To my YoungLife family, who welcomed me into their midst
when I felt like nobody wanted me around;
now I know that there is a place where I belong.

"Hey, Emily! Do you want to come to my birthday party?"
Delilah called out to the practicing ballerina.
"No, why would I come to your lousy party?" Emily
replied sticking her nose up into the air.
Delilah's smile disappeared from her face, "Why don't
you want to celebrate my birthday?" she asked as tears
began to form in her eyes.
"Just because," said Emily as she began dancing again.
Delilah turned and fled with tears streaming down her
cheeks, "Why was she so mean? I've never done anything to
hurt or anger her that I can remember!"
She decided to go to her best friend Alcina's house to tell
her about what had just taken place between her and Emily.

When Delilah arrived at Alcina's house, she saw her
friend sitting on her porch reading a book.
"Hi Alcina!" Delilah called out to her friend to get her
attention. Delilah told Alcina everything that had happened
that morning and she asked Alcina what she should do about
the problem. Alcina was angry that Emily had hurt her
friend's feelings and decided that they needed help to solve
this problem. Alcina told Delilah about a wizard that she
thought could help them.
"What's his name?" asked Delilah.
"His name is Dagda," said Alcina. "Come on, Delilah, I'll
show you the way to his house. I just know that he will be
able to help us."
And so off they went to see Dagda the Wizard in hopes
that he would know what to do.

"Wow!" gasped Delilah as they reached the wizard's
house. It was a huge castle with tall towers and beautiful
gardens. Alcina, having been here before, proceeded to
knock on the door. Soon enough, a woman with strange
blue hair came to the door and opened it.
"Hello, nice to see you again Alcina. "Who is your
friend?" asked the woman.
"This is my friend Delilah and we could really use
Dagda's help," Alcina replied.
"Well, it is very nice to meet you Delilah. My name is
Courtney. Follow me and I will take you to Dagda. He is in
his laboratory at the moment creating a new potion,"
Courtney explained kindly.
"What will this new potion be able to do?" asked
Delilah.
"I don't know; he refuses to tell me," Courtney
answered.

Courtney led them to a door at the top of the stairs and
knocked on it. They heard a man's voice shout, "Trixie and
Ginger, will you get that please?"
The three girls now heard two other voices. One was a
low and rough and the other was soft and smooth.
"That must be Trixie and Ginger! Trixie is our talking dog
and Ginger is our talking cat," Courtney explained.
"You're heavy! What have you been eating? Have you
been snitching second helpings?" Trixie complained. Ginger
was on Trixie's back trying to reach the door knob with her
paws.
"Sorry, but you never know what meal is going to be
your last, especially with Courtney's cooking," Ginger
replied, standing on her hind legs.
"Hurry up, will ya!" complained Trixie from below.
"Oh, will you be quiet! Got it!" said Ginger before
jumping down off Trixie's back.
