Long ago the world was a giant rainbow. But a mysterious gloom called the “Great fade” began to wash over everything. It turned bright red apples into grey mush and blue skies into a dusty fog. “Mia even the sun looks like boring silver today. If we don’t do something we will never be happy again!”
The great fade was caused by the chronicler, a man who thought the world was too loud, messy, annoying. He wanted to lock every color into his secret library at the center of the world. “Leo remember grandma told us about the secret map in her old sketchbook, if we find the eternal crayon we can bring color back into our life!”

The kids went on their adventure and reached the edge of the world where the tree weren’t made of wood, but stone. The trees whispered “two plus two is four… go to sleep little children, let the grey wash over you.”

The forest tried to bore them to sleep with dull math problems. Mia plugged her ears “Don’t listen, Leo! Think of the brightest thing you have ever seen!”

At the River of grey, the water moved like syrup, nothing could swim in it until a giant shadow appeared. “You smell like… strawberry jam and crayons. It’s been almost a hundred years since I’ve smelt that!”

Out stepped Barnaby, a giant dog whose fur was magical, blue and glowing. He wagged his tail, making sparks fly. “ I’ve been waiting for someone like you two!Hop on!!”

The great grey library was a fortress of boredom where the “worlds fun” was kept in jars. Leo whispered “look at all those empty jars. He’s taking everything that makes us special and putting it away on a shelf!”

In the center sat the last jar of color, guarded by the grumpy chronicler. Mia pointed to the top of a giant ladder, “there! He’s about to erase the last bit of purple. We have to move fast.”

The chronicler didn’t use a sword; he used a magic eraser that can make you forget all your happy moments. He shouted “Go! The world is finally quiet and neat. No more messy colors! No more loud games!
