As little boy Johnny lies in bed, he thinks about all of
Grandma's bedtime stories.
"Grandma's bedtime stories are my favorite. She tells me all
about princesses and knights, castles and heroes. There's
always an adventure!"
The boy swiftly drifts into slumber and begins to dream of his
favorite story of all... Ginger the Gingerbread Man and Candy
Island.

The Ice-Cream Palace walls were made from sugar cane, and
lemon dots lined the doorway. Waffle cone towers reached way
into the fluffy, cotton candy clouds. They were topped with
strawberry ice-cream, rainbow sprinkles, and plump, ruby red
cherries.

In the Ice-Cream Palace, lived
Ginger. He had two gumdrop
buttons, two fudge chip eyes, and a
thin licorice mouth and eyebrows.
His marshmallow hair was soft and
orange, and he always wore his
crystal candy crown. Now Ginger was
little, but he was very adventurous.
He loved to explore the lands of
Candy Island.
One morning, he found a treasure
map in the Palace's attic. Ginger was
determined to follow the map and
find the hidden riches. He was on a
mission!

Looking at the map, Ginger knew this
treasure hunt would not be easy. He
knew he would need to trudge through
Sticky Bubble-Gum Swamp, Juicy-Red
Licorice Vines, Swirly-Twirly Lollipop
Forest, Poppin' and Cracklin' Rocky
Road, all the way to Chocolate Lava
Volcano.
Ginger left Ice-Cream Palace and
began his adventure. He wondered
what could possibly be hidden at the
end of his hunt.
"Could it be jewels and gems of
rainbow color? Or maybe it is the
finest sugar in all the land?"

Ginger was so busy thinking about all the possibilities that he
walked right into the Sticky Bubble-Gum Swamp.
"Help!" he cried. "My feet are stuck and I can't move!"He budged
and he trudged, but nothing worked. Ginger only sank deeper and
deeper.

His head peeked just above the sticky bubble gum when he
had an idea. Quickly, Ginger took a deep breath with all his
might and blew straight into the swamp. He huffed and he
puffed, and a bubble began to form all around his little body.
He was so light, that he rose above the swamp.

Ginger pulled out his map and
noticed the wind was moving him in
the right direction. He was floating
above Juicy Red Licorice Vines and
heading towards Swirly-Twirly
Lollipop Forest.
"Wow! This forest looks so
delightfully tasty! But, I am so glad
I don't have to work my way
through all of the red licorice
vines."
Ginger spoke too soon. Just then,
the bubble popped on a piece of
licorice and he fell all the way to the
ground.

"Aww, man," Ginger whined. He picked up his backpack and
began to walk. He knew he couldn't be very far from the
forest. Weaving over and under, he made his way past
hundreds of vines.

Finally, he made his way to a giant wall of thick licorice vines.
"There is no way I can climb over this mess," he thought. Ginger
plopped down on the sugar cube rock and began to think. He
thought, and thought, and thought, but nothing came to his mind.
Out of nowhere, he heard a mighty roar coming from his tummy.

"That's it," he shouted, "I'll just eat it!" Piece by piece, Ginger
chewed away until finally, he saw light from the other side! He
continued to munch until the hole was just big enough for him
to climb through.

He was amazed at what he saw on the other side. Spinning fast and
spinning slow, clockwise and counterclockwise, the swirly-twirly
lollipops moved. Some were as small as his gumdrop buttons, and
others were as tall as the licorice vine wall. They were everywhere,
and soon enough Ginger began to feel dizzy.

He couldn't tell up from down or left from right. "How could I possibly
find my way to the Poppin' Cracklin' Rocky Road with this confusion?"
He stumbled and tumbled and spiraled down the forest hill until he
heard pop! pop! crackle! crackle! Ginger looked down and saw Poppin'
Cracklin' Rocky Road.

The road looked like little
soft marshmallows, but
whenever he stepped on
it, it crackled and
popped. The rocky road
led to many twists and
turns. Ginger had such a
splendid time skipping
down the road. He
enjoyed each and every
pop! and crackle!,
giggling at the sounds.

All of a sudden, the air grew warmer, the popping stopped, and
dark cotton candy fog surrounded Ginger.

He heard something whizz
my his left ear. Frightened,
he jumped and scurried
away from the sound.
Shoosh! Another
mysterious blob rocketed
towards him. Ginger
dodged out of the blob's
path just in the nick of
time. He glanced around at
all these blobs, wondering
what they could be.
