IOWA THE Hawkeye State

Hello Boys and Girls. The train has already
come and picked me up. I am wearing a
different kind of hat now. I thought it would
look good with the flat car I am riding on. Do
you think so? The last state I was in was
Nebraska and Iowa and Nebraska are close
together. Iowa does grow corn but the state is
actually called the
Hawkeye State. It got it's name from some
Indian tribes.

We are going by a field of corn. It really looks
good. I wish the engineer would stop and I
could get some corn. that would be yummy.
But he says we have to get to Mount Pleasant
Iowa because there is an old threshers steam
engine and threshers day. We are carrying coal.
for the steam engine.

Des Moines Iowa.

Capitol of Iowa

The capitol of Iowa is Des Moines. The capitol
building had a gold dome that is 275 feet and is
23 carrot gold. Now if that was real carrots I
would love it.

Okobosi City in Iowa.
That water really tastes good. I was needing a
good drink of water. yummm.

Now I am back on the train. The engineer said
we are going to Winter set Iowa,to see the
place that John Wayne the actor was born. and
t the engineer said there is a John Wayne
festival too.

Those leaves
sure look good but I
better not eat them. I
would get into troublo.

I looked in my book and found that the state
tree is the oak tree, The flower is the wild rose.
I don't think it would be good to eat. It would
be stickery. The bird is the eastern gold finch.
Oh well I won't bother any of those.
