My footsteps are the only sounds to be heard
as I wander through masses of crackling
leaves. The trees stare down on me, a prickly
sensation crawls down my back.My silver
locket gently taps my neck, shining in the last
ray of moonlight.Eventually exhaustion takes
over and I stumble to the ground in a mass of
sweat and lost hope. I yelp as my locket gets
tugged off my neck,I'm not alone...

"Happy Birthday!" shouts Mum. My feet pull me down
the stairs and onto the couch."What strange present did
Aunt Grace send this year?" I question. You see my Aunt
is not very normal as she is a witch, which unfortunately
means she sends me strange Witchy presents each
birthday.Last year was a cursed toad and the year
before I got a jar of snake venom, don't ask why, I
assume she's trying to turn me into a witch or
something."This ordinary silver locket. It doesn't look
very magical to me,I suppose she's changed her witchy
ways." Mum tells me "You sure Mum?" I ask "Well here
is a letter maybe it will say that she has given up
witchery," Mum picks up a purple letter with the letters
G.W engraved on it. In large, scrawly handwriting it said
this...

Dear Magical Laciette
Happy 13th Birthday. Your gift this year is very special.
Your locket contains hope and dreams. I am putting the
"Locket Of Hope" in your care. Your Locket is magical and
can spread hope and magic if in the right hands. In the
wrong hands it can fill the land with evil and danger. I trust
you with it but be warned many would do anything to get
their hands on that locket. I am in danger and can no longer
wear the locket, please wear it every day but keep it hidden.
When needed make a wish and it will come true as long as
you are wearing the locket. I am putting our future in your
hands.
Love Aunty Grace

"So Much for it being normal,She's put our future in my
hands," I sigh wondering how I will ever protect such a
powerful object and what sort of danger was Aunt Grace
actually in?"Oh I don't know it's really strange,my sister's just
not that kind of person who would just put such a powerful
tool in a 13 year old's hands unless she was in great
danger.""Well I need to know what's up so I'm leaving today
to find Aunt Grace" I say stubbornly and run up to my room
ready to pack."Wait Lace you're to young it's dangerous out
there!" "I need to do this I can feel it and I know I'm doing the
right thing,Aunty Grace needs help." I yell "Ok but Lace
remember whenever you need me wish me to be there and I'll
arrive, That locket can be useful but keep it hidden!" "Of
course!" I shout as my feet skip through the front door "Bye
Mum I'll be back soon, I've got this baby," I wriggle the locket.

As the sun slips under the pink and orange sky,the
birds stop chirping and the bats start to squeal. I'm
beginning to regret starting this journey.A deep
rumble comes from deep down in my belly and I
pull out an apple. I take a bite and my taste buds
squeal with glee. My footsteps are the only
sounds to be heard as I wander through
masses of crackling leaves. The trees stare
down on me, a prickly sensation crawls down
my back.My silver locket gently taps my
neck, shining in the last ray of
moonlight.Eventually exhaustion takes over
and I stumble to the ground in a mass of sweat
and lost hope. I yelp as my locket gets tugged
off my neck,I'm not alone...

My eyes groggily open and glance around "Where am I?" I
ask the darkness. The light flickers and the room is
instantly filled with luminescent light, Looking around I
see myself bound with ropes on a chair. A figure emerges
from the shadows "So,the little girl with the locket, hey?"
Asks a croaky voice "Get away from me!" I yelp as the
hand belonging to the figure approaches me. "Feisty
aren't you, just like your lil Aunt," The nasty breath fills
my face as His eyes lock into mine "How do you know my
Aunt?" I question "Oh I know her alright,in fact she's
here," "Aunt Grace are you here?" I glance around
searching for a sign of her "Lacey?" Whispers a voice
"Aunt Grace what should we do?" I whisper back "The
locket," whispers Aunt Grace "Oh,I wish to be free!" I
shout, nothing happens. I look down at my neck and see a
bare neck,no locket.

"Lacey,Lacey,Lacey do you really think I'm that
clueless?Leaving a locket that can give you anything in
the hands of my prisoner?"Croaks the man. I look up at
him and see my locket swinging on his neck as he walks
away from me."What do you want from us?" I shout.
"What do I want,ay? Well for starters, I want this
locket."He carefully examines the locket "I also want to
rule the world, I already have that wish as long as I have
this lil baby." His spiky voice crawls down my neck
giving me an uneasy sensation. "You're evil and cruel!" I
insult him "Yes I may so be but as long as I have my
way, nothing else matters," His beady eyes glare at me, if
looks could kill I'd be more than dead. "Selfish brat!" I
scream at him. "Lacey, you may call

me what you like,I am not insulted." His voice is
icy."Idiot,"I mutter under my breath."What did you just
call me?" His voice echoes through the cave as he
strides towards me. "I called you an idiot, you worthless
rat!" I state."You just crossed the line!"His pointy nose
is touching the tip of my chin and the silver locket
swings in my face. I reach up and snatch the locket off
him. "I wish for Aunt Grace and I to be free!" I shout
and we are whisked away from the cave and out into
the grassy,green field."Well done,Lace," Aunt Grace
congratulates me as we puff and pant. "Thanks,I did
what I could," I tell her "What do we do now?" I ask
"What we do now is run,he could come out any minute
and catch us." Aunt tells me. We run and run and run
until the cave is a tiny spot in the distance.
