Hi! My name is Minnie - Minnie, the microwave! I
was just born recently! My papa is going to teach
me everything about being a microwave. He says
one of the best things about being a microwave is
that I can travel anywhere I want! Right now,
we're exploring space! Dad says I'm a special type
of wave, called electromagnetic! Elec-tro-mag-
net-ic. Whoa, big word!

Since I am an
electromagnetic
wave, I can visit
more than just
space! I can also
move through the
air, like butterflies or
birds!

I can travel like a fish through
water too!! Papa says to be
careful of the crab's claws -
Yikes!

Exploring places is fun, but Papa says I
have to learn how to help people.
Microwaves like me have a job to do,
but I'm scared because I haven't done
anything like this before. What if I'm
not good at it? What if I fail?

"Minnie, honey, don't
worry," says Papa. "I
know it's hard to try
new things and it can
be really scary if you
don't know what's
going to happen. Every
little wave tries new
things at some point.
And if you fail you just
try again! And again!
And one day, you'll be
great at it!"

Papa is right! I'm
going to be brave!
After all, he was a
little wave just
like me once. I am
going to learn a new
job today. Papa says
it helps humans and
that it's the coolest
job ever!

Papa shows me a space called a kitchen. He says
humans make food here. They put food in their
bellies to help them live. Papa says sometimes they
need warm food so they put it in the little box below
called a microwave! That's funny - this box has the
same name as Papa and I. We're microwaves!

Papa teaches me how to help humans
warm up food. He says that my job
will be to move through the
microwave box very quickly. When I
move really fast it makes the human's
food warm up! Sounds pretty simple -
I'm ready for my very first try at my
new job.

Inside the microwave is a
plate of food that Papa calls
spaghetti that needs to be
warmed up. He tells me to
start far off to the side and
get as much energy as I can.
Then, he yells "Ready, set,
GO!!!"
