My Favorite Things In Life!

Hi! My name is Brynn Welde. I’m 10 years old and I’m in 

5th grade. I live in Henderson, Nevada. I was asked to 

write about my top 3 favorite things in life.

     My first favorite thing is my family. I love my family 

because their amazingly awesome and they take care of me 

by giving me a roof to live under and food to eat.

     My second favorite thing is music. Music helps me feel 

good when I’m sad. I am a very good singer. I’ve sang at 

church and I’m in choir. I’m also in instrument group.

      My third and final thing is my friends. My friends 

always there for me and I’m always there for them. I’m 

friends with almost everyone in my class. I have the best of 

friends.

      I have a bunch of other things but, my family, music, 

and my friends are my top three favorite things in life.    

The Sundae Pizza

What is the best pizzeria? The Grimaldi’s pizzeria! 

Grimaldi’s pizzeria has been opened since 1920’s. 

Grimaldi’s has a machine that turns any water into New 

York water. They also use a coal fired brick oven which 

makes the crust crunchier. Our new pizza, the Sundae 

Pizza, uses brownie mix, your choice of chocolate, 

vanilla, and strawberry ice cream, chocolate chips and 

syrup, a cherry, coconut, and whipped cream. Yum!

The Sundae Pizza is made with a brownie crust, your 

choice of chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream to 

replace the sauce, milk or dark chocolate chips, creamy 

chocolate syrup, shaved coconut, white whipped cream, 

and a cherry as red as lipstick. It’s the butterfly of the 

garden! Grimaldi’s will be so much better with our new 

update.

If I Were the Mayor of Henderson

           My name is Brynn Welde, I’m in 5th grade and I go 

to Estes Mcdoniel elementary school, and if I were mayor I 

would work to make the city safer and spend more money on 

the public. I think that the mayor would work really hard to 

make his city great. The mayor would also be fair about his 

decisions and would make sure his city great. The mayor 

would try to make the people of his city happy.

        One idea I have is if I were mayor, I would work to 

keep places safer. I would work to increase the amount of 

people in the Building and Fire Safety service, so people feel 

safer. I would also try to increase the amount of police 

officers. I would also put more police officers in the jails so 

there aren’t any breakouts. Then not only will the adults feel 

safe but, the kids will feel safe too.

    I would try to spend more money on the public. I would 

give more money to the Public Works and, Parks and 

Recreation service. I would insist on more splash parks for 

during the summer. I would also make more homeless shelters 

so there are no people on the streets. I would also have 

complementary yoga classes in front of city hall because 

people can have stressful days and want to lose their stress 

and, what better way to lose stress than yoga.

    Now you know what I would do if I were mayor of 

Henderson. I would make Henderson safer, nicer, more fun, 

and a little less stressful. Thanks!

Mia was a girl who got bullied for being “double dumb” as people called it. 

Mia was afraid to go to school sometimes.   One day Mia went to school and 

met a girl named Riley. Riley was a girl who was really smart and loved 

school. 

    One day after school stated Mia was at her locker when, a bully named 

Lizzy came and started taunting Mia. “You are so dumb; I can’t believe you 

were never held back. You will probably get a college in being dumb.” Riley 

heard this and said, “Stop! You’re being a bully!” but, Lizzy did not listen. 

Riley ran off and told the math teacher what was happening.

    The math teacher rushed down to the scene and saw Lizzy bullying Mia. 

“Lizzy McMillan! You shall go to the principal’s office immediately.” said the 

teacher. “Wha! Oh no! I’ll go.” said Lizzy sadly. “Thank you so much,” said 

Mia. “Maybe sometimes we can study together?” said Riley. “I think I will 

really like that.” Soon Mia became really smart and became best friends 

with Riley.

I'll Sing My Heart Out!

      A singer is what I want to be, so just come and listen to me. 

My name is Brynn Welde and I want to be a singer when I grow 

up. Who inspires me you ask? Katy Perry that’s who. Katy Perry 

is my inspiration because she is herself, she is not the next 

Taylor Swift or Zendaya she is the first Katy Perry.

I want to go to Oklahoma University. If I go to OU I will keep 

the family tradition going. I have already started working on my 

career. I have been trying to get my falsetto voice higher so I 

can hit the high notes stronger. I’m also working on not 

screaming when I sing.

     I want to be a singer when I grow up. I want to be a singer 

because I love music, I’m really good, and I want to make my 

parents proud. If I work harder and learn more about music I 

will achieve my life goal of being a singer. I will sing my heart 

out.

Dear Fifth Grade Student,

     I used to go to your school. Maybe, you remember me, Brynn W. I 

went to Gatewood since pre-kindergarten. I go to Estes Mcdoiniel 

Elementary School in Henderson Nevada. I am writing to you 

because I am participating in a Great Mail Race, where you send 

letters to a fifth grader and if you’re lucky they might just wright 

back. 

    Now I shall tell you about my school. In my school grades go from 

pre-kindergarten to fifth grade. There are 540 students in my 

school. There are 25 in my class. My school colors are blue and 

green. Our school mascot is a marlin. Our school year starts in 

August and ends in June. Our school is six hours long.

At my school fifth graders rotate classes. Our classes are writing, 

math, reading and social studies/ science. Our specials are P.E, music, 

art, library and marine lab. My school has a lot of extra curriculars 

including choir, bell choir, and instrument group. Pali is a field trip my 

school takes every year.

    Nevada is an awesome place to live; in fact Nevada is famous for 

silver mining during the Civil War. Peyton Meyer, from Girl Meets 

World, is from Nevada. One interesting tourist attraction is the Linq, a 

big ferris wheel in Las Vegas, Nevada. A waterway in Las Vegas is Lake 

Mead. The climate here is hot and dry. Henderson is a suburban 

community. I live really close to Las Vegas. If you came to Henderson, 

Nevada I would recommend you to visit the Las Vegas Strip.

     Is it true Oklahoma really has two state flowers? Is there a new 

governor or mayor? If there is who is it? I really miss Oklahoma. I 

hope I can visit soon.

A Female Miner

All I ever wanted to be was a miner. No one believed in me. “It’s too 

dangerous, Mia. Don’t ask again,” My mom says every time I ask 

her. Finally I couldn't’t take it anymore. I wrote a letter saying I was 

leaving and left. I got to the station right on time. I got the last 

ticket for $10.00. When I boarded the ship, I realized I was the only 

girl there.

I looked everywhere.   There was not a girl in sight. When I got to 

my room, I was glad I didn’t have a roommate. Even though it was a 

small room, it was cozy.   After I unpacked, I decided to look around. 

As I was walking, I got a lot of rude comments. “My laundry is in 

room 8,” said a sailor. “Good, maybe you’ll learn how to wash it,” I 

said back. It was a solid five months I had to deal with these rude 

comments. One day out of nowhere I started getting seasick.
