In the town of Plateau, they had no light. Their
leader, Libel, ordered them to make a brick dome around
the town so no stars, moon, sky, or light at all could be
seen. He was a cruel ruler. He believed that you should
say anything and everything no matter if it was true or
not. He also believed that you should rely on your ears
for the truth, not your eyes.
They adapted so much to this darkness, that their
eyes were small and their ears were huge. They looked
more like moles than people.
Everyone agreed with him, because it was all they
knew.... except one child.

Her name was Lumiere. She was small in size, but
her eyes were big. She also had a small voice which
made her different from the others.
Lumiere was also different because she had the one
thing that was banned from Plateau: Light.

She found the light one day when she wasn't listening to
others, and she kept it. She would take it from her hiding
place at night when she was afraid of her dreams.
One day, she decided to show her mother. She walked
to her mother one day and held it to the woman's face.
"Look mom!Isn't it pretty!" Her mother saw it and gasped.
"Get that out of here.," the woman screamed,"You know
the rules! If Libel doesn't approve, it doesn't belong!"
As soon as Lumiere's started talking, people started
listening. Its what the people of Plateau breathed for. They
loved new talk.
Word traveled fast, and pretty soon, Libel himself knew
about Lumiere's escapade.

The next day, Libel marched
through town, and people
started to gather around and
follow. His lip was twitching as
they all stopped in the square
of the town.
Lumiere was there too, but she
wasn't scared of what Libel had
to say, unlike the others. Libel
looked down at the little girl
and said with a smirk, "Aren't
you afraid? I'm clearly more
powerful than you."
Lumiere took her light from
behind her and replied, "I have
something more powerful than
you'll ever be."

Gasps were heard through the crowd. Everyone was
listening. No one was ever brave enough to disrespect him.
Libel was angry, and almost livid.
"How could something so small be more powerful than
me?I hate it.", Libel stated loudly.
"It is more powerful than you because you are so affected
by it. If you hate it so much, than why don't you look
away?", Lumiere said just as loud, gaining confidence. The
scary man stood there speechless, so Lumiere continued.
"You are the one who chooses to see what you hate, so
why don't you look away instead of blinding everyone
else?"
Libel was feeling murderous by now, and lunged at the
child. But she was too quick for his old movements. She
ran through the crowd swiftly as everyone shuffled in
chaos.

Even though no one knew where she was going, she
knew exactly what she had to do. She ran and ran
until she reached the edge of the dome.
The bricks were crumbling, and the cement was
wearing away from age. It was just waiting for the
simple push that Lumiere delivered. With the little
force of her hand, the dome started crumbling, brick
by brick into dust.
No one knew that if you did something as small as
knocking a wall down, so much could come out of it.
