Pit Bulls by David C.
Pit Bulls can be many different sizes. They can weigh between 22 – 78 pounds
and be as tall as 14 – 24 inches tall. Their heads are like bricks and it is broad
between the cheeks. Their necks area thick and they have a muscular tail. They also
have a shiny coat. Pit bulls can come in many different colors, from black, brown, red,
and white. They can live to be 12 – 14 years old. When they give birth, their litter
size can be between 5-10 babies.
Most people feed their dogs wet or dry dog food, but there are some that feed them
whatever they want. You have a choice if you want to free feed your pit bull or feed
him on a schedule. I think putting him on a schedule is better. Pit bulls need lots of
exercise. Some pit bulls sleep inside the house and others sleep outside.
Pit bulls are very intelligent. Because of this they are the most misunderstood
animal. They don’t have the strongest bites, since Rottweiler do. Pit bulls do not
make good guard dogs because it is not in their nature. Humans have bred them to be
friendly. Some humans have turned them to be very aggressive.

Ruler of the North Woods by Kayla M.
Have you ever heard the howl of a wild wolf? The eerie sound makes your skin tingle
and your heart race with excitement. The Grey Wolf is one of the top predators in the
northern regions of the United States and they roam the woods and mountains with no
fear.
You might think that all Grey Wolves are grey, but that is no the case. They range in
color from grey to black or all white. The Grey Wolf is the part of the dog family and
help keep the ecosystem in check. They eat hoofed animals like deer, elk, moose, and
caribou. They also eat smaller animals like rabbits and beavers.
Today, the Grey Wolf population is growing and scientists believe that there may
be as many as 16,500 wolves roaming in Canada, The Rockies, The Great Lakes Region,
The Pacific Northwest, and Alaska. They continue to expand their range as their numbers
grow.
Grey Wolves usually mate in January or February and it takes about 63 days to
have their pups. A typical litter is between 4 and seven adorable wolf pups; how cute!
The pups will stay with the pack for about 10 months to a year before heading out on
their own.
The Grey Wolf is a majestic animal that deserves our protection and respect. I
hope that I can see one in the wild one day because they are beautiful animals.

The Grey Wolf by Wyatt T.
Have you ever seen a grey wolf? I haven’t except for
pictures, but I would like to. They are mammals that
eat deer, moose, bison, elk, sheep, caribou, beavers,
and hares. Their habitat is mountains, forests, and
grass lands. Did you know the grey wolf is also known
as the timber wolf? They were on the endangered
species list because humans almost killed them all.
They have strong jaws and 42 teeth. The alpha male
and the alpha female mate for life and have 4 to 7 pups.
They can weigh around 75 to 125 pounds. A wolf has a
narrower chest and longer legs than a dog and has grey
fur. I am glad they aren’t on the endangered species list
and hope to see one someday.

Gray Wolves by Lucas Schultz
Gray Wolves are a member of the dog family.
They are 4 feet long and weigh 100 pounds. Wolves
live in the northern forests and travel in packs of 3-24
wolves. They hunt for deer, elk, and moose to eat. A
female wolf gives birth to 3-13 pups and cares for them
inside a cave. Gray wolves are wild animals and
dangerous. I like the gray wolves because they are
brave and strong.

Boa Constrictors by Elon Smith
I am writing today to tell you about boa
constrictors. They are pinkish-brown to grey in
color and are about 12 feet in length head to tail
tip. They eat songbirds, lizards, bats, rats and
other small mammals. They live in the rainforest.
Their predators are humans, jaguars and
crocodiles. I found that boa constrictors are very
interesting and I learned a lot about them.

African Elephant by Muneera S.
Did you know Elephant’s are the largest
animal on land? Did you also know that Elephant’s
eat plant’s and berries? Elephants drink water out
of their trunk. They also grab their food with it as
well. African elephants live in deserts, and
woodlands in Africa. Elephants are huge! That’s
why I love elephants.

Bee Size Bird by Kaila J.
Are there birds the size of a bee? In fact, there are! Bee
hummingbirds are the smallest known to man. These birds are round
and chunky with a slender pointed beak. Their tiny wings can move 80
times a second. Females are bluish green. And the males are red, blue
and green. The bee hummingbirds’ habitat is limited to Cuba and the
Island of Pines. The warm tropical areas are ideal for the rich nectar
filled flowers they need to survive. They help their environment by
pollinating other flowers. They also eat small insects. Between April and
June the male sings with a high pitched squeaks and twitters to find a
mate. After a couple of weeks, the female lays two white pea size eggs
into a walnut seized nest. The female takes care of the young alone. The
chicks hatch after two weeks and are ready to fledge in about 18 days.
Bee hummingbirds can survive up to 7 years. They bee hummingbird is
near extinct. Their main threats are larger birds, frogs, tropical spiders,
and fish. Hurricanes can also cause problems for them. At just the size of
a bee the bee hummingbird has many abilities.

Eastern Whip-poor-will by Aaron C.
These birds are famous in folk songs, poems
and literature. They have a length of 8-10 in.
and weigh about 1-3 oz. for both sexes of
birds. They have a wingspan of 17-19 in. They
are easy to hear but hard to see because they
blend in with the trees and leaves. The birds
eat any kind of insects. They have a wide
mouth to catch these insects.

Frogs by Claire T.
Have you seen a small animal on land and
water? Maybe it was a frog! Frogs are
amphibians which means they live in land or
water. They can leap the size of a football
field. Colorful frogs are poisonous. Be careful!
Frogs are amazing.

I Learned A Lot About Porcupines by Padamae G.
I learned that there are different kinds of porcupines.
There are some that have over 30,000 sharp quills and
although a few such as prehensile and Mexicanus are naked on
at least a portion of their tails. I also learned that Mountain
lions and Fisher are the porcupines predators. A porcupine's
size can range from about 15.5-51 in and about 6.5-22 lbs.
Porcupines like to each ripe berries, apples, and leaves they
also eat water lilies (because of the salt) and in winter they eat
the bark off a Birch tree. Porcupines mainly live throughout
forest, although one species extends into the desert. When a
porcupine becomes an adult it only has one baby at a time. I
find porcupines interesting because there is a lot to learn about
them. Also, they don’t shoot out their quills they stick them in
you if you get too close and their quills have a something in
them where they won’t cause an infection if you or animal get
stuck with one.

Zebras by Naomi S.
Zebras are amazing creatures. They live
in Africa where there are lots of predators.
Zebras are mammals that eat grass,
sometimes up to 18 hours a day. They have
black and white stripes, weigh 770 pounds
and live 20 to 40 years. Don’t you agree?

The Zebra by Savanna Y.
The Zebra is a nice animal. Everybody
likes the zebra. The Zebra has black and
whit stripes that make it look different than
any other animal. I see the zebra at the
zoo, eating his food that the people are
giving him. The zebra reminds me of a
horse except we can ride the horse but not
the zebra. I want to go to Africa to see the
wild animals some day soon.

The T- Rex by Landen W.
My animal book is about the T-rex. The T-rex
is a carnivore. A carnivore is a meat eater. The
habitat for the T-rex was the Cretaceous period.
The size of the T-rex is a height of 15 to 20 feet
and it weighs 5 to 7 tons.

African Elephants by Quentin S.
There is much information on the African
Elephant. They eat foods like roots, grass, fruit
barks and water. Their habitat is rain forest or
savannas depending on the elephant. The life cycle
for an adolescent is about 10-17 years old. African
Elephant’s average weight is 7 tons. The African
Elephant is wrinkled with large ears and their
forehead is flat. There is so much more to learn
about African Elephants.

Elephants by MyKayla F.
Elephants live for 70 years, and weigh
12,000 pounds. They are 13 feet tall. Elephants live
in the rain forest, and the desert. They eat bamboo,
grass, and leaves. Elephants eat 300 to 400 pounds
of food each day. Elephants carry their babies for 22
months, and have a baby every 5 years. They purr
like a cat, and do not like peanuts! Elephants only
known predator is man!

Clouded Leopards by Audrey B.
Clouded leopards are very interesting. They are a
medium size cat. They grow to 2 to 3 feet tall. They are
yellowish with dark gray spots, stripes, and other patterns.
Clouded leopards can climb upside down. Clouded leopards
can also climb down a tree head first. They have big fangs
compared to their body size. Clouded leopards have one to
five cubs each year. They are carnivores. They eat swine,
birds, deer, and monkeys. They live in southeast Asia.
Their climate is tropical. The only predator that clouded
leopards have are people. Poachers try to kill them for their
bones and decorative coat. Other people are wrecking the
clouded leopard's habitat by building bigger cities. I think
clouded leopards are very cool. Don't you think so?

Why I Love Rabbits by Devanna Y.
A rabbits food are grass herbs, garden lettuce, bark
twigs, buds and carrots. The rabbit lives from Canada to
South America. The rabbit seeks out habitats on the fringe
of open space fields and meadows and farms. Rabbits
preys on insects such as butterflies and bugs. The rabbits
life cycle starts when a female give birth in shallow ground
nests. The young are so helpless that perhaps only 15%
survive their first year. The rabbits size is 15.5 2.18.75
inch and 39.5 to 47.7 cm. Their weight is 28 to 54 ounces
800 to 1533g. The interesting facts to me is that the life
span in the wild is less than 3 years. Therefore that is why
I love rabbits.
I got my information from National Geographic.

Why I Love Big Giraffes by Devan Y.
During the dry season giraffes eat evergreen leaves. A
giraffe's habitat is in a savanna grasslands. Giraffes are fast
walking animals. Giraffes life cycle of babies are often on
their feet within 20 min. Giraffes are large males and
females that may weigh up to 1,9000 kg and about 4,000
200 lbs. The interesting facts about giraffes over 50% of all
giraffes newborns are killed by hyenas. Therefore that is why
i love giraffes.
My information came from Animal Corner.

Sheep by Xander M.
My favorite video game that I like to play is
Minecraft. One of my favorite characters in
Minecraft is the sheep. So, I thought that it will be
fun to learn about sheep.
Sheep live in fields or on farms with lots of
grass, because that’s what they like to eat But they
don’t like to be eaten. They stay together in large
groups to to avoid predators like coyotes, wolves
and mountain lions. Sheep have very good
memories. They can remember the faces of up to
fifty other sheep! Sheep are cool! I would like to go
visit some at the petting farm.

The Life of Penguins by Skyler S.
Penguins are interesting animals. Penguins are an
aquatic, flightless bird. Their tuxedo like appearance is
called countershading. This is a camouflage that helps keep
them safe in the water. They live on all the continents in
southern hemisphere. They are hunted by sharks, skuas,
orcas, and leopard seals. Other dangers are people stealing
the eggs, poisons, and oil spills. They love to eat shrimp,
fish and krill. They eat, swim, and nest in groups called
rookeries. The males hatch the eggs so mom can hunt food.
They have special calls so they can find their babies and
mates. The emperor penguin lays one egg and all other
penguins lay two.
I found this information from National Geographic.

Penguins by Abby B.
The animal I am writing about is the Penguins.
There are 17 species of penguins. To name a few species
there are Emperor Penguins, King Penguins, Gentoo
Penguins, Macaroni Penguins, Adelie Penguins, and the
Little Penguins. The Female lays the egg or eggs. In some
species the male alone takes care of the egg or eggs until
they are hatched. In other species, both the female and the
male takes care of their egg or eggs. Penguins are usually
black and white with feathers and they waddle when they
walk. I have learned a lot about penguins and they are very
interesting to learn about.

Amazing Sharks by Khalfani P.
There are 465 types of sharks. They are many
different sizes and lengths, and I love them all.
Sharks are the predators, they are at the top of the
food chain. Everyone fears them. They love to eat
fish. They can smell fish and blood from a mile
away. It’s a very scary fish. It has gray skin. It is
very scaly. The sea is his home. Sharks only have
one or two babies called pups. Not puppies, pups.
Funny huh? Sharks are pretty cool, and I wish Mrs.
West would take me and my class to meet one.

Gorillas by Katelyn C.
Have you ever seen a gorilla? They are quite amazing! They
are a lot like us. In fact, they have 98% identical DNA as humans.
Male gorillas are the leaders of the troop. They protect all the
members of his troop. They eat roots, leaves and fruit. Gorillas
play and eat all day and build a nest made from leaves at night to
sleep. Female gorillas have one baby at a time. Male gorillas can
get up to 450 pounds and 5 feet tall. Females can grow to about
200 pounds and 4.5 feet tall.
Almost all gorillas are endangered now. People are cutting
down trees and building on the land they live on. Also they are
being hunted by humans and leopards.
If you get a chance to ever go to the Detroit Zoo, make sure
you go and see the gorillas. They are so cool. If you watch them
closely you will see how much we are like gorillas.

Shasha is a Pomeranian by Destiny E.
Sasha lives with me and sleeps with me in my room
and it’s a mess. She eats cat food. Why would a dog eat cat
food? I have no clue why she eats cat food. Sasha watches
TV with me in the living room and we looked out on the
porch and there was a rainbow. We stayed out there for a
minute then we come back in the house and she had to go
potty, so I took her on the porch again. She goes to potty
and she was happy. She likes to kiss me when I take her
out. We have lots of fun with the cat playing with her. She
sticks her head up and growls at me.

My Dog by Kenya S.
My dog, J.P. likes to eat dog food. J.P. likes to play
with kids. When people come over J.P. likes to smell
them. He likes to army crawl across the room then he
rolls over. J.P. likes to lick everybody on their face. J.P
likes to follow you around and lay under your legs. J.P
is a lazy dog and he sleeps all day long. J.P likes to
play with our cats, but most of all he likes to protect
his family and we love him.

Bengal Tigers by Sidney S.
Tigers eat meat and live in India's,
grasslands. Tigers have big fangs for killing lots
of animals. Some male tigers weigh lots of
pounds and that is just wrong and sad. Tigers
can live up to 18 years in zoos and less in the
wild. Baby tigers are called cubs and they have
more stripes then their parents because they
don’t get eaten by a other animals. They are so
cute and when I mean so cute I mean so, so, so,
so, so, so cute.
