Minecraft CombatHandbook

By Mojang
Welcome to the non-official Minecraft combat
handbook! It's essential reading for warriors!
With the help of this handbook you will be a
expert of combat in the highest order in no time
at all!
-------------------------------------------------
Unlike any other Minecraft handbook that the
creator knows of, It includes the new item
Shields!

Weapons are items used to deal damage to
other players or mobs. Not to deflect. Shields
are to deflect if you are playing in 1.9. But in
1.8 and below they are used to deflect.
-------------------------------------------------
Sword: A swords sharpness makes it the best
weapon to use during melee combat. A sword
can be crafted with 1 stick and 2 pieces of
material. The materials can be Wooden Planks,
Cobblestone, Gold Ingots, Iron Ingots, or
Diamonds, Nothing else.

Wooden Swords are greatstarter weapons, but you'll
soon need a upgrade.
Stone is a bit better thenWood, It'll work til you
can access Iron.
Now we're talking! A good Iron sword will
last a while.

A sword of Gold isn't very durable, But it's easy
to enchant.
The ultimate close rangeweapon unless you
enchant it.
Sword Maintence: You canfix and rename a tool on an
Anvil, Right click on your
anvil and place the sword
in the first slot. From there you can eitherrename it, place the material of what the
sword is made out of in the second slot,
put another sword in the second slot of
the same kind to repair, or enchant it using
a enchantment book.
Anvils can be made out of 3 Iron
Blocks and 4 Iron
Ingots.
Bows and Arrow
The main advantage of bows and arrows is that, unlike a
sword, you can use it from
a distance and keep out of
range from your enemies
attack. But, the disadvantage
is that you will need arrows
as ammunition.

Bows can be madeout of 3 sticks and
3 string.
Arrows can be made out of 1 piece
of flint, a stick, and
a feather. You get
4. It is ammo for
the bow.
A fully charged Bow and at least 1 arrowcan deal 9 points of damage. That's 4 and
a half hearts. To charge your bow hold
down right-click until the bow no longer
animates. It just takes one second to
recharge. When a bow is fully charged.
Arrows fly farther and damage is
increased. You can still fire a bow even
when it isn't fully charged too.
Bows can be enchanted too. With enchantments like Unbreaking, which
makes the bow last longer, Flame, which
sets Arrows ablaze, and Infinity, making
it so it will never have to reload.

A enchantment table
Different types of Arrows.Tipped Arrows: Tipped Arrows can't beaccessed in Survival but they give a
potion effect to the victim. It can be
either be a bad or good potion
effect.

Spectral ArrowThe spectral arrow imbues the Glowingstatus effect for 10 seconds. The glowing
effect is visible through blocks. Making
the target easier to spot. It is crafted
using 4 glowstone dust and an arrow.

Shields:
Shields are used for blocking incoming attacks.
Using one causes the player to slow to a
sneaking pace, and blockable attacks coming
from the front of the player will do 33%
damage from melee attacks and no damage
from projectiles. When the shield blocks an
attack, it takes damage equal to the strength of
the attack (rounded down) plus 1. Non-damage
effects, such as being set on fire by a flaming
arrow or fireball, are not prevented.

Shields were introduced in 1.9and from so on Swords were
never again used for deflecting.Shields crafting recipe is
3 wool of any type,
3 wooden planks of any
kind, and a iron ingot
DispensersAs the name suggests, a dispenser is a
block that can shoot what ever is inside.
To load a dispenser right-click on it and
put arrows, splash potions, or whatever
you want, But, if you just want the item
to come out, craft a dropper. If you want
to activate a dropper craft a lever.
Recipes are on the next page.

7 pieces of Cobblestone, A
bow, and a piece of
Redstone Dust can
make a Dispenser.
A lever can be madeout of a stick and
a piece of
cobblestone.
Really cheap!
Flint and SteelThis is a handy weapon that when you
right-click it can set fire to anything!

Flint and Steel canbe crafted using
1 piece of Flint and
one iron ingot.
Lava BucketA lava bucket can be used to damage
several opponents at once! Just
right-click on the ground and the molten
liquid rock will spill out!You can't craft a Lava Bucket, You first
need to craft a bucket, then you can
fill it with lava.
Be careful! You could easily set fire toyourself. If you are using lava keep a
Water Bucket in your hotbar just in
case.TNT is a explosive. It is the easiest way
to destroy anything except Obsidian and
Bedrock. Light it with Flint and Steel
(page 19) and watch it go BOOM! Just
make sure you aren't in the blast radius.
