Once upon a time, in a wide open field...
Three cats and three dogs sat, their words concealed...

2

"I don't like the dogs," the cats would say.
"They're mean, unpleasant,
and gray!"

"The cats are harsh;they scratch and bite.
All we do is bark and run -
that's not right!" The dogs
would cry, gazing up at the
bright blue sky.

The same scene would carry out every day...
Until one day, a brave dog invited a cat to play.

"Hey! My name's dog.Want to play hide and
go seek?" Dog asked,
tail beginning to thrash.
"Yeah right, you reek!Go away, Dog, I would
never play hide and
go seek." The cat spat,
swatting at dog like a
gnat.

The day went and so did the cats...
The dogs were home, lying on their mats...
But still one dog stayed...
Gazing longingly over the promenade...
"Why doesn'tCat like me?" Dog
cried. "Is it because
I'm a dog, that I'm
denied?"
5

The next day, Dog came up with a plan...
He knew it was what was on the inside that outran...

"Who are you?"The cats asked,
staring over the
animal with a
mask.
"Where's Dog?"The dogs asked,
too.

"I'm just atraveler, fresh
from town. Hey,
won't you play
hide and go seek
with this clown?"
"Sure!" thecat meowed.
"Just make
sure you stay
far from the
dogs," she
vowed.
7

"You are so muchfun. Not like those
dumb dogs, they
only run."
"Found you!"
So the cat and clown played until the end of the day...
Little did she know, the cat would soon forget her mean display...

8

The next day came, and clown was nowhere to be found...
The cat cried for her friend, looking around...

But when Dog approached, she continued the act...
To her dismay, her friend sat right where she spat...

"Go away, Dog!I thought we chased
you off, dumb hog!"
cat cried, fire in her
eyes.
"Don't be silly,Cat. We played
hide and go seek
yesterday. Don't
let our friendship
decay. I may be
a dog, but we can
be friends some way!"
9

The cat's eyes grew wide, her hatred dimming from her eyes...
The dog had taught her a lesson: not to believe trivial lies...
The cat jumped forward and hugged the dog then...
She wouldn't judge from appearance ever again...

"Appearancescan be deceiving,
friend. But, oh, Dog,
I'm so sorry. Let's
make amends!"
"It's quitealright, cat. I'm
glad we can settle
this, and finish our
spat." Dog smiled,
feeling like a child.
