Once upon a time, in a flatland far, far away, there was a
cat. This cat was named Bilbo. One day, Bilbo was sitting
outside, enjoying his catnip, when suddenly, a tall, elderly
bird named Gandalf walked up to him. After exchanging
"good mornings", Gandalf decided to jump into what he had
set out to do.
"Would you like to go on an adventure, young cat? It is an
adventure of gold, monsters and glory! What more could an
animal want?" Gandalf inquired.
"What? A small town cat like me going on an adventure is
unheard of." Bilbo replied with disgust.
"I apologize, sir, but I must be going, I just bought a new bag
of salmon-flavored treats that I need to attend to." the cat
continued.
But something odd happened. This silly, old bird seemed to
be reluctant to leave...

Later that night, as Bilbo was just putting the finishing
touches on his dinner, there was a knock at the door.
Several mice had appeared at his doorstep, letting
themselves in. Bilbo was bewildered, but he reminded
himself that even though mice and cats didn't necessarily get
along, he still needed to mind his manners. The mice found
their way to Bilbo's dinner table, and ate the poor cat's
dinner right up.
After a while, an oddly familiar bird appeared at the
doorway.
"Gandalf!?" Bilbo thought to himself, "could he be the
cause of the mice's arrival?"
"Greetings," Gandalf said. "I see my mice-friends are
early."
As Gandalf strolled to the table to join the mice, Bilbo
hurriedly set out some milk for his guests, while questioning
their arrival.

That night, Bilbo's company spoke of the significance of
their quest. They pressured Bilbo to go with them.
Eventually, he agreed and they all went to sleep.
The next morning, Bilbo woke up to the sound of a bird
chirping, (quite literally). Gandalf was hollering at Bilbo to
hurry and pack his things, the mice had already gone on
without him! Bilbo struggled with whether or not to go, but
eventually, he threw his things in to a bag, and took off.
The company traveled for a short while with perfect,
gorgeous weather! But eventually, it started pouring. In the
distance, Gandalf spotted a light! They all sprinted towards
it. As they got closer, they realized it was a campfire! Bilbo
was asked to scout it out, so he could make sure that there
was no danger. Bilbo agreed, but oh was he scared!

When Bilbo approached the campfire, he didn't see
anyone, so he decided to head back and tell the others
that it was safe. Just as he was turning to leave, he was
jumped by three teenage girls! They grabbed him, and
debated how many different cute selfies they could take
with the animal. Just as Bilbo felt like he was going to
lose it listening to them, the mice appeared.
"I'm saved!" Bilbo thought.
But one by one, as his friends walked in to the light,
they were stuffed into a bag, and tossed in a pile near
Bilbo.
After a half an hour of this, the sun started to rise.
"AGH!" shrieked the teenagers. "The sun! It burns!"
They retreated into their houses, where they stayed on
Twitter all day. The company was safe again! But, they
were still trapped in their bonds.
After a while, Gandalf flew to their rescue and freed
them all with his beak.

"That was quite frightening!" Gandalf commented.
"Perhaps we should seek council from the frogs of
Rivendell, for they may be able to help us avoid future
danger."
So, taking Gandalf's suggestion, the company headed off
towards Rivendell. When they arrived, they were greeted
by the jeers of small frog children in the trees. They
ignored them and continued on. After they had wandered
around for quite some time, they stumbled into the frog's
leader, Elrond. After Gandalf informed him of their quest,
Elrond spoke to the travellers about a way to get into the
mountain, and how to access its gold.
After exchanging "goodbyes", they started off in to the
mountains. It began to rain, so they took refuge in a cave.

That night, as everyone had just gotten to sleep, Bilbo had
a nightmare that everyone was kidnapped by some pesky
raccoons. But he didn't realize that this was actually
happening until it was too late to escape! Soon about fifty
raccoons were on them, dragging them into a hole in the back
of the cave. The greedy raccoons had stolen all of their
belongings! Eventually, the group noticed that Gandalf was
not with them. Shortly after there was a huge flash of light,
and many raccoons fell down. Gandalf appeared, and ran with
the mice to safety, but Bilbo had fallen into a ravine in the
process, and hit his head on a rock.
When he woke up, he had no idea where he was. He walked
around for a while, until he stumbled upon a golden collar.
Without thinking twice about it, he slipped it around his neck.
As Bilbo reached the end of the path he was following, he
heard loud footsteps behind him. A dog was sprinting at him
at full speed! Bilbo quickly ducked down just as the dog
jumped over him.
"I wonder what his deal was." Bilbo thought to himself.

Bilbo quickly made the decision to follow the dog through
the caves, since it seemed to know where it was going. After
a while, they approached a gate that led outside. Bilbo
slipped past some raccoon guards, and slid out the door.
Then he ran to a patch of trees, where he found his friends.
By now Bilbo had taken the collar off, for he found it quite
uncomfortable.
Seeing Bilbo again gave the mice great joy! They all merrily
skipped off, but they traveled with haste, just in case the
raccoons would try to chase them. As the sun started to set,
the group heard howling. Some evil wolves were
approaching, and raccoons were on their backs!?
"Quickly! Climb in to the trees!" Gandalf hollered.
Just before the wolves had caught up, Gandalf flew the
mice and Bilbo into the trees one by one. The wolves were
snarling, and the raccoons were trying to climb the trees.
Meanwhile, some eagles were patrolling the forest, and saw
this feud taking place. They came to the rescue, saving the
mice and Gandalf just in time.

As Gandalf had requested, the eagles dropped everyone off
at Beorn's house. Beorn was a skinchanger, who, after
listening to their tale, lent his horses to the mice. They all
traveled to a mysterious forest called Mirkwood. Gandalf
deperated from them here, for he had different business to
attend to elsewhere.
After travelling for a while on foot, the group saw a light!
They were tired and hungry, so they decided to walk towards
it. But as soon as they approached the light, it disappeared.
This happened several times before they finally gave up. The
company had now lost their path, and began to feel hopeless.
They continued to walk around aimlessly, until they were
captured by giant spiders! Luckily, Bilbo had slipped the
collar back on, so the spiders passed over him. He was
terrified, but he knew that he needed to save his friends! The
cat followed the sticky webs that the spiders left behind, and
eventually discovered his friends. He gnawed at the webs
that bound the mice until they were free, and the group ran
away!
