Way up North where the air is cold and
the snow falls heavily. Fifteen elves
were just about to get to work.

There were all sorts of things to get done
before Christmas day! They had to make
toys, wrap them up and make sure they
made it onto Santa’s sleigh!

One elf, Tinselbelle had a grand idea to cut the time in more than half.
She suggested they split into groups, the builders, wrappers and loaders.
“Wait!” said Jack, “if there are fifteen of us and three groups of things to get
done, how many of us should be in each group?!?”
Holly replied, “Oh that’s easy! That means five of us will be in each group!”
Holly, 15 divided by 3 equals 5
We need to get to work fast!

Tinselbelle told Holly, “Yes, that is correct! Great job! I will send
you, Holly, with Buddy, Elfie, Jack and Jingle to do the building.
Charlie, Chippy, Sparkle, Peppermint and Snowball can do the
wrapping, and that leaves myself, Elvis, Bob, Clyde and
Sugarplum to do the loading! Let’s get to it elves we don’t have
much time!”

Let's go!

Holly, Buddy, Elfie, Jack and Jingle went to the workshop. Santa told them
that they needed to build 20 toy trains. Buddy asked Santa, “How many
should each of us build?” Santa replied cheerfully, “ among you 5 you can
figure that out on your own”. The five used their savvy math skills and found
out that if each built 4 toy trains that would equal 20 total! They quickly got to
work and did not stop until all 20 toy trains were made.

Across Santa’s workshop there was Charlie, Chippy, Sparkle, Peppermint
and Snowball. They were in charge of wrapping 32 presents total. Charlie
and Chippy quickly figured out that Peppermint, Snowball and themselves
needed to wrap 8 presents each to equal 32. Sparkle was in charge of
putting bows on only half of the 32 presents. Sparkle divided 32 in half and
calculated that she would need 16 total bows. So she got her 16 bows and
they were all ready to get wrapping!
