Cassie the cat was a very friendly and a
popular cat in Oak Forest. All the other
animals loved and admired her. Now in this
forest was also a wolf named Walter. Walter
was very mischievous and conniving. He was
always up to no good and the other animals
knew it. Walter was left out of all the forest
games and activities. No one wanted to be
anywhere near him. Now Cassie was always
nice to Walter and tried to be friends with him
but Walter was very jealous of Cassie and
wanted to be as popular as her.

Oak Forest Spring Race
Who will win this year?

On the first day of spring every year there is a
contest to see who will be crowned king or
queen of Oak Forest for the day. Now all the
animals wanted to win the crown but it was
very hard to win. There was a huge race
throughout the forest and whoever finished
first wins. Walter was determined to win this
spring no matter what it took. All the animals
were expecting Cassie to win this year and
Walter knew it. So he hatched a plan to make
sure Cassie never saw that crown. "I will win
that crown, and Cassie the Cat will be outcast
from Oak Forest forever! hahaha!"

The day before the big race Walter woke up
extra early to go and change the sign that
directed the race. He knew Cassie wouldn't
suspect a thing. He quickly ran to the final
curve to fix the race but just to make sure no
one would guess his plan he used Cassie's
wood from her home so that she would be
blamed. "This is the perfect plan," Walter said.
"I will be the King of Oak Forest today!
Bahahaha!"

It was finally time for the big race and all the
animals got ready to run. Cassie and Walter
were placed next to each other." I hope you
race well Walter!" Cassie said. "I hope you race
terrible." says Walter. Then Walter kicks dust
into poor Cassie's face as the whistle is blown.
"Oh!" says Cassie as she tries to catch up with
the other animals.

It was a close race til the final curve and then
the final curve came up. Cassie and all the
animals followed the sign into the valley.
Walter ran laughing knowing he had won the
race.

As Cassie and the other animals made it out of
the valley Walter was crowned King of Oak
Forest. All the animals turned accusingly
toward Cassie. "We know that sign was made
from your wood Cassie! You cheated!" the
animals yelled. "Cassie the Cheater! Cassie the
Cheater!" they chanted. Cassie bowed her little
head " I'm deeply sorry for what I have done.
Walter, congratulations." With that Cassie ran
home crying all the way.
