Once upon a time, there was a very unusual king named Prufrock. He ruled over the kingdom of Westfield which was a very industrial place; it was full of unfinished buildings and deserted streets. Although Prufrock was a king, he always wanted more from life.

King Prufrock was always very confused and lazy. He would not make any decisions for his kingdom. Instead he always put it off saying that he would do it later and that he still had time.

He stays inside most days with his yellow cat that liked to lounge by the window pane. He lives his life in a boring routine, having coffee every morning and then avoiding all his duties as king. King Prufrock was afraid of going out because he thought people would judge his personality and how he looks.

King Prufrock found that he was always faced with overwhelming questions that he never knew how to answer. He knew eventually he would have to ask a women to marry him and that scared him more than anything.

Prufrock was dreading having an upcoming ball where all the potential ladies that could be his queen were attending. He wanted to cancel the plans, he was nervous that the people attending would notice how his hair and body were growing thin and think that he is not a worthy king any longer.

Nevertheless, he still wanted to impress the woman so he hung up paintings done by Michelangelo around his castle and bought a new necktie.

Finally the day of the ball had arrived. Prufrock quickly noticed a women in a pink gown that he was interested in and wanted to ask to dance. As he walked up to her he heard the woman speaking of Michelangelo and how he would have been the perfect man to be a husband and king. This made Prufrock lose all his confidence and retreat back down the stairs and to his room for the night.

For the next few days, King Prufrock could not help but wonder what could have happened if he had talked to the women at the ball. He was racked with regret but then decides that even if he had talked to her, she probably would have turned him down anyways.

Feeling very discouraged and upset about life, Prufrock decided to go for a walk on the beach and try to clear his head.

As he looks across the water and sees how big the world is, he feels very insignificant. He always has good intentions but it never turns out right for him. While he would match rather be a pearl inside an oyster shell, he relates to the crabs that he sees under the water, thinking that he should have been a crab, not a King.
