Late Night Ranch

Avery was a little girl that grew up her entire
life with a gift. A gift that no other person
knew she had. Avery had the gift of gab with
her hounds. Her first thought was that she
needed to tell her parents right away. But
Avery was a lil trickster of a girl. Oh how
funny it would be to watch! Dad would talk to
the dogs and and get everything backwards.
It made Avery smile that only she knew about
her gift, and they would giggle and laugh at
him.

Every morning Avery would wake up with her Papa and
Mom, and they would go to their favorite swimming hole.
Avery loved her pond, and swimming with her dogs.
Most little girls would be afraid of such things, but she
always had her parents and hounds. Every morning Boo
would assure Avery that she and the other dogs would
protect her forever. If things ever got scary, and she
couldn't find mom or dad, she could always ride the
bucking bronco, Artemis, to safety.

One morning after a day of swimming at her pond, Avery
decided she wanted look for flowers for her mother.
Avery knew she was not to leave the pond without her
parents, but she really wanted to surprise them with the
gift. So Avery told her mom and dad that she wanted to
play hide and seek. She told them to close their eyes.
Once her Parents closed their eyes for a split second,
Avery dashed off into the woods on the back of her Dog,
Artemis. Tucker pleaded with Avery to come back,
knowing that Avery would get into trouble. Avery
laughed and told tucker not to be a worry wart. Boo and
Oden chased after Artemis and Avery, but Artemis was
just too fast.

Avery and Artemis laughed and screamed with glee as they
jumped over logs and splashed through the puddles. Time
flew by as they played and ran through the timber. As they
got deeper and deeper into the woods, Artemis slowed and
asked Avery if she knew where they were. The pond turned
to swamp, and fog formed that was thick and heavy. Each
step was more frightening than the last. A coyote howled in
the background as the day turned to night. A raccoon
dropped from a large oak tree and laughed at the young pair.
The raccoon hissed and scratched at the two! Artemis jumped
in front of Avery and sounded off with a very scary bark,
yelling, "GO AWAY BANDIT FACE, LEAVE US ALONE!" The
raccoon ran away and Avery looked to Artemis and said, "I
want to go home now, this place isn't safe". Artemis agreed,
but they were both lost and had no idea where to go!

Little did Avery know that Boo and Oden had not given up on
finding them. Oden had a super nose that he used to follow
Avery's scent. Oden and Boo ran as fast as their legs could move,
because they knew the deep swamp was a dangerous place at
night. While Oden and Boo did their best to catch up to the lost
pair of girls, the swamp began to come alive with animals. All of
a sudden, lurking in the tree tops sat a mountain lion! This lion
knew it could swallow little Avery up in one gulp, and make short
work of the little pup Artemis. The lion crept to the edge of the
limb and flew to the ground, roaring and giving Artemis and Avery
a terrible fright! The lion leaped through the air, and as it
reached Avery, Oden tackled the beast from the side, and a great
battle ensued. Boo snatched Miss Avery up by the seat of her
pants, and took off for home with Artemis close behind. Oden
and the giant lion battled for hours before it was beaten. The
giant cat fled to its trees and Oden returned home victorious!
