My name is Flynn and I am a twelve-year-old boy on a scavenger hunt looking for my parents.

2
They left me a map on my 12th birthday that would lead me to where they are. This has been a tradition in my family for generations. My older brother Rye, my dad, my grandpa, and my great grandpa have all taken part in this ritual, accomplishing it within a few months.
3
I am currently off the coast of Florida sailing through the Gulf of Mexico. The Gulf of Mexico is apart of the North Atlantic Ocean. The first stop on the map was Mexico.

4
I sailed across the Gulf of Mexico and docked up in a small harbor where there was a sign saying “Flynn” with an arrow pointing towards the market.

5

I began walking and before I knew it I had come upon a fruit stand where I recognized the person selling fruits. It was my old neighbor, Joe, who had an envelope for me.

6

Inside the envelop was a bus ticket to the Central Plateau, which are mountains that run along the coast of both Mexico’s Pacific and Gulf coast. The bus was going to take me in between these mountains to the Rio Grande, Mexico’s longest river.
7
When I finally made it to the Rio Grande, I was immediately sent back to the market by a tour guide waiting for his tourists. I was not sure why he sent me away in such a rush until I was dropped off at the Diego Jimenez Torres Airport.

8
The flight attendants were calling out my name, “Flynn! Flynn! This is last call for boarding!” The sign above the attendants said the flight was going to Colorado.
9

I had never been on a plane before, nor to Colorado, and I told this to the flight attendant. She told me not to worry and to just look out the window at all the views. The flight attendant also told me that the flight was only connecting in Colorado and that our final destination was Canada.
10
Everything just seemed so confusing that I decided to listen to the flight attendant and look out the window. I saw a big patch of sand that I thought to be the Chihuahuan Desert, the biggest desert in North America.

11
It was hard to see the little houses and buildings so everything just seemed to be mountains and lakes except when we landed in Denver, Colorado. There were so many buildings. I was in awe.

12
Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to look around because our pilot was in a hurry and we were ready for liftoff in no time. Next stop, Canada.
