Today was the starts of summer vacation and the Smith's were leaving for California. They had everything packed in the car except one thing. Their tiny puppy Cali.

They were flying so the Smith's had to leave Cali behind. The Smith's drove off to the airport as Cali sat in her crate wondering why they were all packing up and leaving without her

She waited for them to return, but they didn't. She wondered if they would ever come back for her.

Cali decided to take matters into her own hands. She had to think of her escape plan. She knew that her family had this other human come by daily to let her out and she knew she could jump that fence.

The human finally came and Cali was ready. The moment the door opened she sprinted and jumped. She was free! Now time to find her family

Cali used her nose to sniff their scent. She was traveling west. Cali traveled a while before it became dark.

She didn't know how far she had traveled. All she knew was that she was surrounded by large buildings and cars were everywhere.

She was too scared to sleep here. Everything was bigger than her and she was afraid of the dark. So Cali continued into the night on her journey.

She traveled until sunrise. Then she got too tired and she was starving. Cali decided this place was a lot safer. Just open roads and fields.

She found a field with lots of food. It was people food, but she didn't care. After getting something to eat Cali decided to take a nap.

Cali was awakened by a stranger. His name was Stan. He was a Sheep dog. Stan looked at her and said, "are you lost little lady?"

Cali still half asleep replied, "No I'm going to find my family."

Stan Chuckled, " Well you better be careful. A small dog like you can be in danger out here if your not careful. I don't think you should be falling asleep in the dark. You're likely to meet a coyote and let me tell ya they aren't your friends."

Cali took the advice and continued her journey westward. She traveled a couple days finding food where she could.

When she stopped again it was in a place that much colder than the last. She traveled through mountains and snow, looking at the most beautiful sights

During her journey through the mountains she met another friend. Her name was Morgan. Morgan was a kind Siberian Husky.
