All these animals look different!
2
Have you ever noticed that no animal looks the same? So did a guy named Charles Darwin. Charles Darwin was born in 1809 in Shrewsbury, England. Darwin came from a long line of scientists and eventually became one himself.
3

Thank God I'm finally done!
4
At 16, Darwin enrolled in Edinburgh University. Two years later in 1827, Darwin enrolled in Christ's College in Cambridge. While he was there John Stevens Henslow became his mentor. He graduated four years later with a bachelor of arts degree.
5

6
After he graduated, he became a naturalist on the HMS Beagle. The trip took a fiver-year voyage around the world. Darwin's job was to look at nature and draw conclusions from it. The captain said he was one of the smartest he has ever seen.
7

8
Throughout the voyage, Darwin collected different kinds of natural things and brought them back on the boat. His room was filled with all the stuff he had picked up. He had birds and plants and fossils in there. Everywhere they went he brought something new back to the boat.
9

10
Darwin used the things he found for hands-on research and experiments. This gave him a unique chance to study plants, animals, and the land. One day his ship reached the Pacific Islands Galapagos Archipelago in South America. This is were Darwin made is biggest finding.
11

12
The island was covered in birds, particularly finches. While sun bathing one day he noticed that the beaks on these finches where different than the ones he had seen on the other islands. These breaks weren't purple or anything, they were just shaped different than the ones he had seen before. He started to think about why they all weren't the same.
13

14
Darwin wrote down all he saw in his journal. There would be no use to bring the finches on the boat since they were going home after this. Darwin's observations drew many questions when he got back home. Many naturalist's around the world started to form theories.
15

16
Darwin looked over everything from his trip. He looked at the fossils. He looked at the plants. He looked at the birds.
