At a school, in a small town, somewhere in Greece...

Scene 1

A little boy, small and delicate is sitting at the corner of the playground. He looks sad and he’s talking to himself.

Alexandros: I can’t stand it anymore! Giorgos kicked me again and stole my lunch. I don’t want to come here again. I hate him!

One of the teachers, Miss Marina, approaches him.

Miss Marina: What’s the matter, Alexis? Why are you crying?

Alexandros: There’s nothing wrong, Miss. It’s just that I’m disappointed I failed in the Maths test.

Miss Marina: Are you sure, Alexis? If you wish to tell me something, I’m here, ready to listen to you.

Alex.: Thanks, miss. I should be going now.

Scene 2

In another part of the school…

Mihalis: Ha! Ha! You’re eating again, Kostas. You’re always eating, that’s why you look like a pig. Look at you! You are disgusting! Get off my sight!

Kostas: Why are you talking to me like that? What have I done to you?

Mihalis: What have you done? What have you done? You are so fat and ugly that you get on my nerves!

Kostas(crying): You are so mean…

Scene 3

In a classroom…

Miss Maria: Today, kids we are going to talk about equality among people. Every person has got the same rights and the same responsibilities, no matter what colour his skin is or which god he believes in.

Mihalis: What are you talking about, Miss? My dad has told me that black people are bad and that those who are not Christians are fool and that I should not get near them

Aylin: You see, Miss? That’s why whenever he sees me, he turns away from me. He never wants to work with me and turns the others against me. The only students who don’t mind working with m are Kostas, Tonia, Alexis and Minas.

Miss Maria: Don’t be silly, Mihalis.You can’t judge people by the colour of their skin or their religion. If I ever hear you again talking against one of your classmates, I will call your parents and you’ll have to face the consequences.

Scene 4

At the basketball court…

Giorgos: Get lost Tonia! Can’t you see you can’t play with us?

Tonia: But, why? I want to play. Our PE teacher says…

Giorgos :(interrupting her) He says… What does he say? You’re crippled. You are not as strong as we are. And…you’re a girl.

Tonia: I’ll tell everything to our teacher

Giorgos: So what? You can tell the prime minister himself for all I care!

Scene 5

In a classroom during a break…

Mihalis: (angrily, attacking Minas) Why haven’t you written the answers ? Have you forgotten about our deal? You will study and do the exercises for me and I won’t make fun of you in front of the other kids. Now, you’re in big trouble, jerk!

Minas: (stammering frightened) No,no I’m sorry. I promise I won’t do it again.

Mihalis: Too late. Don’t say I haven’t warned you…

Minas: I can do anything Just… just, please…. I can’t stand the others laughing at me. I can give you some extra pocket money I’ve got from my grandma. She gave it to me as a reward for my high marks in the report.

Mihalis: Aha! So you’ve got money! Of course you will give it to me. Anyway, what could you do with it? You stay at home all day long studying and doing homework. That’s why you’ve got no friends. Loser!

Minas: Stop insulting me! Leave me alone! You’re heartless and…
