"Look Mommy! A couple of duckies!" Lily said as she looked out the front window of her house. "They usually don't end up on people's front lawns" her Mom replied. "I sure hope they bring their babies with them. They are so cute and fuzzy." "Do you know what you call a baby duck Lily? Ducklings!" her Mom exclaimed.

Over the next couple of weeks, Lily would leave bread out for the ducks. And every morning, the pair would be there to eat it all. Lily had heard in school one day that bread wasn't good for ducks so she went with her Mom to the pet food store to buy bird seed. What a responsible, considerate little girl she was.

"Look Mommy! Baby duckies! I mean ducklings! Three of them. They are so cute!" Lily bolted out of the house and was met by some angry quacks from the Daddy Duck. "Get back in the house Lily. I don't think they want to be bothered. They're not pets. They are wild animals." "Okay Mommy. I'll see you all tomorrow" Lily said as she blew them all a big kiss.

One morning Lily noticed that there was something different about the ducks who came to visit that day. There was a Daddy and Mommy duck and three babies. They'd swim around the pond in the front yard, have a snack, and then walk away. But this time Lily noticed something strange. There was now a fourth duckling and he didn't look anything like the others.

The other "duckling" was white as snow. He didn't make the same noises that the duck family did. It seemed as though the rest of the ducks weren't sure how he ended up with them either. Lily called her Mom over to look at the new tiny bundle of feathers that had joined their morning routine of feeding the ducks.

As Lily's Mom got a closer look at the baby "duck", she came to realize that maybe it wasn't a duckling after all. "You know what Lily, I think that its a baby goose. A gosling. I wonder how he ended up with a family of ducks?" "I hope nothing happened to his Mommy" Lily worried.
