Atlantic Canada, what a beautiful sight.
The waves crash against the rocky coast of Newfoundland. swish, SWISH.
2
3
Appalachian mountains in their full magnificence. 300 million years of age has not ruined the radiance of their beauty. Though they may not reach as high as other mountain ranges, they still tower over those who gaze upon their elegance. The greatest of them all, Mount Jacques Cartier reaches 1320m above the sea. Its beauty can be seen from miles away.
Ranging across the East coast, from Newfoundland to Alabama in the States. Peaks of shale and gorges cut by rivers. These are the beasts of the east.

The Boreal forest graces all those who look upon it.
A view of it's Autumn beauty can only be seen by a small number of people, the ones who are blessed by the Autumn spirits.
Although autumn may be a shorter month, due to the harsh snowstorms of winter, its beauty can last for a whole year.

Baby Bear loves his home, the Boreal Forest. He loves the trees that tower over him. He loves all trees. Red spruce, balsam fir, and most of all, maple trees. He loves the smell of the air, and he loves the crunch of the colourful autumn leaves beneath his feet. He is fascinated with his fellow animals skunk, moose, red fox and blue jay. He loves everything, but the thing he loves most is his mom.

Baby Bear is going on an adventure! His mom is taking him to look for food to fatten up for the winter. They stop by a blueberry bush to eat some blueberries. Munch! Munch! Munch!
Baby Bear and his mom cross a river to search for more food. Baby Bear is full, but he knows that he needs to eat more if he is to survive the winter. While Baby Bear crosses, he spots a beaver. Nyuuuh! Nyuuuuh!Nyuuuh! Nyuuuuh!
10

11
Far off while crossing, Baby Bear sees strange hairless creatures wielding sharp sticks. "What are those funny looking creatures mommy?".
"They are called humans my child. These ones, in particular, call themselves the Mi'kmaq. We should make sure to stay away from them, for they are almost as salty as the water in the ocean."
12
13
"But look! They have Atlantic salmon!" says Baby Bear. Baby Bear decides to runs over to the Mi'kmaq to get a closer look.
"No! Stay away" screams Baby Bear's mom
14
15
"Mommy no!" Baby Bear had approached the Mi'kmaq and his mother had rushed to protect them. The Mi'kmaq, who had, in the beginning, no ill will towards Baby Bear, brought out their spears to defend themselves. The battle was bloody and fierce, but in the end, Baby Bear's mom got wrecked.
The Mi'kmaq had sustained many wounds, so they headed back to their village to tend to their wounds. Baby Bear, unable to stand the sight of his dead mother, decides to follow them.
16

17
Baby Bear followed the Mi'kmaq through a forest of Black Spruce. The Mi'kmaq were treading quickly through the forest, it was all Baby Bear could do to keep up. As he ran, all Baby Bear could see was the blur of tree trunks. He was able to spot a few things, though. He saw a porcupine, racoon, skunk, moose, flying squirrel, violets, ostrich ferns, a coyote and some wild lupin.
18

19
The forest eventually opened up to reveal a wide river and a small settlement of Mi'kmaq.
In order to force the thoughts of his mother's death out of his head, Baby Bear allowed curiosity to fill his mind at all the new sites to see in the settlement. "I never knew you could make a home out of wood and animal skin," thought Baby Bear as observed a teepee-like structure he had seen a couple Mi'kmaq enter. He saw one of the Mi'kmaq point at the structure and say Wigwam. "That must be what they call them," thought Baby Bear.
20
21
By the river, Baby Bear saw a pair of Mi'kmaq by a strange floating hollow log speaking to the two Mi'kmaq that had killed his mother. He heard one of them say "Thank the creator we didn't end up like Dicaprio."
"I wonder what they use those logs for?" thought Baby Bear. Baby Bear heard one of the Mi'kmaq refer to the log as a canoe. He then saw one of the Mi'kmaq get inside the canoe and paddle away from the shore. "So that's how they travel across water," concluded Baby Bear.
22
23
Baby Bear heard a booming voice behind him. When Baby Bear turned around, he found an interesting sight. A group of Mi'kmaq were sitting around a fire. The group was mostly made up of small humans, about his size with one big one standing above them while waving his arms. The smaller humans gazed at the bigger one with a gaze of wonder, it looked like the bigger human was telling the smaller ones a story.
But then they saw Baby Bear.
24
25
Baby bear ran away as fast as he could. He ran and ran until he was far away from the Mi'kmaq. He lost track of time. Day turned into night and night turned into day. When baby bear finally fell asleep he was stuck in a deep trance. In and out of dreams, he kept seeing his mommy bear being killed by the Mi'kmaq. When baby bear finally awoke, it was the middle of winter. Baby bear was covered in snow. "Brr" he said as he woke from his slumber and shook the snow off his fur.
26

27
Baby bear was hungry after his deep sleep. He looked at his surroundings. The Atlantic ocean had brought a cold, stormy winter to Newfoundland this year. Baby bear could not see much, since a thick fog shrouded his view. From what he could make out, baby bear saw what looked like a big fish. "Food!" He cried out excitedly.
28

29
It took baby bear a few hours to reach the coast. By then, the sun had begun to peak over the horizon. A beautiful sunrise lit up the sky with its glowing embrace.
As baby bear approached the big fish, he noticed that it was not what he thought it was.
"Why hello, little bear, what brings you here on a cold winter day?" Said a loud booming voice
30

31
Baby bear was scared of this creature. He cowered in fear as the creature continued on with his speech.
"Little bear, why are you so far from home? The annual snowfall is 335 cm! The daily average is -5 degrees Celsius, way too cold for a youngling like you" And on and on....
Baby bear interrupted this creature with a tiny voice. "Excuse me mister, but what animal are you?"
32

33
"Why I am a blue whale of course," replied the creature. "Don't you see my magnificent spout?"
"Sorry for being rude, but what is a whale?" asked Baby bear.
"Why, we're mammals who swim in the sea!" Whale replied.
"Mammals? Where's your coat of fur, or your long sharp teeth?"
"Oh don't be rude. Not all mammals are the same. As a matter of.. f- Wait! Here come my friends! There's harbour seal, harp seal, and my best friend, seal!"
34

35
Baby bear and blue whale talked to each other as dawn became day. Blue whale learned that baby bear had run away from home after his mommy bear was killed; while baby bear learned that blue whale swam hundred of kilometers to reach the coast. Baby bear saw many animals appearing throughout the day. Baby bear saw an orca, a bottlenose dolphin, a porbeagle shark, and even a bird called a puffin. Baby bear was happy at the moment, but he knew he had to leave his new friends soon. With a heartfelt goodbye, he quickly walked back to the mainland.
36

37
Baby Bear suddenly realized that his stomach was still grumbling. He stopped his trot and quickly scanned the shoreline for any fish. All he could see were lobsters, scallops, mussels, and crabs. With a sad look, he walked away.
38

39
Over the next few months, Baby Bear explored the Atlantic region of Canada. He trekked through the deep valleys of the Maritime Acadian Highlands during spring, when the ice melted into slush, and flowers and trees began to sprout and glow with spring colours. He faced the harsh rainstorms on the mountains of the Newfoundland Highlands during spring, where the rainfall averaged 900mm to 1500mm. He walked through rolling hills. He climbed the tallest of the Appalachian Mountains. During summer, a breeze from the Atlantic ocean had caused the weather to be scorching hot. Baby bear faced all this with determination.
