"Gee, I'm kind of hungry," Allie told Landon. So Landon brought her down stairs where his mom had made them some lunch. Allie gobbled up her sandwich and then decided it was time for her to go home.

Allie was so glad to have a friend like Landon. On her walk home, she couldn't stop thinking about how much fun she had. She couldn't wait to tell people about her day.

Allie always took a short cut to get home before her curfew. She walked the same path every time, but today she noticed something different on the way.

Allie saw a little boy on a cardboard box in the alleyway between her house and Landon's. "Great!" Allie thought. "I can tell him about how much fun I had today, he looks kind of sad, maybe that will cheer him up."

And so she did. Allie walked up to the boy and said, "Hey Box Boy. I'm Allie! Today I had an amaaaaaazing day. You wanna hear about it? Good." Allie went on and on, "I was the firefighter and Landon, my best friend, was the nurse. Together we saved the world! Then Landon's mom made us the tastiest peanut butter sandwiches."

Allie talked until she noticed that Box Boy didn't look so interested in her story.

Eventually the little boy spoke, "That sounds fun and that sandwich sounds great. I am kind of hungry."

Allie didn't understand why Box Boy didn't have any cool stories to share with her, so she smiled at him and kept walking home.

The next day, Allie made her way back to Landon's house again. Today she was a knight and he was the fairy. They made the best team and together they saved the world! They played and played until Allie's stomach started to grumble.

"Gee, I'm kind of hungry," Allie told Landon. So Landon brought her down stairs where his mom had made them some lunch. But this time, Allie ate half her sandwich, looked at the other half then decided to wrap it up and put it in her pocket.

On her walk home she noticed the same little boy sitting in the exact same spot as yesterday. "Hey Box Boy! Wanna hear about my day? Great."

And so she continued, "Today I had an amaaaaaazing day. I was a knight, Landon was a fairy. Together we saved the world! Then Landon's mom made us the tastiest turkey sandwiches." She paused, and then realized that yesterday she never asked him about his day.

"How was your day Box Boy?"

"My name is actually Mac," said the boy. "My day was ok, thank you for asking." He smiled.

Something about his smile made Allie feel warm. She smiled back and said, "Here, Mac."

She passed him the half sandwich that she saved. "I brought this for you,"and continued on home.

The next day, Allie made her way back to Landon's house again. Today she was an officer and he was a teacher. Together they saved the world! They played and played until Allie's stomach started to grumble.
