This book is dedicated to all of the photographers out there that were able to capture the beautiful moments found within this book (thank you for sharing them on the internet). And Ulysses S. Grant. What a guy.

On March 1, 1872, President Ulysses S. Grant signed a law establishing Yellowstone National Park as the first National Park in the entire United States!
2

By declaring this beautiful land as a National Park, the United States was able to protect the natural landscape and the wildlife from human disturbances. There were a lot of people that wanted to cut down all of the trees and hunt the animals that call this land their home!

3

During the day, you can see thousands of bison that call Yellowstone their home. If you visit in the spring or summer, you may be able to see the baby bison calves roaming around with their parents.

4

This bison in particular is Bill Bison, a very famous author amongst the buffalo bibliophiles. If you use a ruler, will you be able to help me figure out how many inches long Bill Bison is in this picture?

5

Every night at sunset, the Wyoming sky is flooded with shades of glowing embers, eventually fading to starlight before your very eyes.

6

Because Yellowstone is so wonderfully beautiful, I always take a lot of pictures! I have 4 pictures of mountains, 6 pictures of sunsets, and 5 pictures of waterfalls. How many pictures do I have in total? Can you solve the problem two different ways?

7

I feel lucky every single day that I get to work at a National Park. Right now I'm just Robert the Park Ranger, but hopefully I'll become Chief Buffalo Keeper one day! What do you want to be when you grow up?

8

I have a friend at home who has never been to Yellowstone, but has always wanted to visit. If I wanted to buy a $1.00 postcard with this picture on it for him, do I have enough money to afford it? Can you also tell me which coins I have and how much they are worth?

9

Hmmm...I'm having some trouble right now. Can you help me count how many bison are at this waterfall? Do you know how many bison there would be in total if 10 more bison came and joined them?

10

Thank you so much for all of your help today, I couldn't have solved all of those problems without you. I hope that you enjoyed your visit to Yellowstone National Park! We sure liked having you here.

And here is a picture of the author's parents being super cute at Old Faithful because this book needed one more page.

Answers to the math problems
Page 5: Approximately 22 cm long
(answers will likely vary)
Page 7: There are 15 pictures in total.
Page 9: There are four quarters and each quarter is 25 cents. Yes, because four quarters make a dollar.
Page 10: There are 10 bison in the picture.
If 10 more came, there would be 20 in total.
