Leonard loved sports. He loved to watch and play them as well. Whether it be football, basketball, or hockey, he just loved participating. Unfortunately for Leonard, he was on the short side. He always ended up being picked last during gym class and never really got to show what he could do on the field or on the court. This made Leonard very sad.

I wish I was bigger

At Leonard's 10th birthday, his Dad ordered pizza and his grandparents came over for supper. After they ate, his Mom turned off the lights and brought in his birthday cake. Leonard needed help from his five year old sister to blow out all of the candles. He got some pretty cool presents including a new baseball glove which sadly had to be returned because it was too big.

When Leonard woke up the next morning he felt different. He didn't feel sick or dizzy. Just different. After nearly banging his head on his bedroom door, Leonard walked downstairs. Every step he took sounded like a herd of elephants. When he went to the kitchen to say 'Good Morning' to his Mom she shrieked and ended up dropping his breakfast all over the floor.

Leonard didn't have time to help his Mom clean up as he had to catch the bus. When the driver looked at Leonard, he immediately drove off. Leonard ran after the bus, eventually passing it, and made it to school a good ten minutes before the rest of the kids arrived. "What was going on?" Leonard wondered.

TRYOUTS TODAY

3 P.M. AT POLK JR. HIGH FIELD

After getting the strangest looks all day long, Leonard excused himself and went to the washroom. He splashed water on his face and looked in the mirror. He nearly screamed when he saw the giant looking back at him. But it was no giant. It was Leonard. His wish had come true. He had grown. Now he was big enough to try out for the peewee football team!

With his size and strength, Leonard was an awesome football player. Nobody could stop him as he was twice the size of the other kids. His team didn't lose a single game and were ready to compete for the championship. This was a dream come true for Leonard. Finally he was able to play sports and was the best player on the field. Nothing could stop him now.

The night before the big game, Leonard was barely able to sleep. He tossed and turned as he thought about winning the championship. He always dreamed about becoming a sports hero but he never got the chance. Tomorrow Leonard would be the superstar that he always wanted to be. Just a few more hours.
