It was a beautiful day where the winds blow and the flowers show their faces. Where the Cows graze and the birds sing their songs, but the best sight of all were the horses! The beautiful creatures were right in the middle of a grassy field on a farm with their manes swaying in the breeze. In the middle of all this, a colt was born to a mare horse on the farm. He was the prettiest horse on the farm and the farmer's daughter tried to decide what to name him. After 15 minuets of careful thinking, she named the colt "Windy".

Chapter 1
The Good News
The farmer's daughter went inside to tell her family the good news. "Father!" She cried. "What is it, Emily?" Her father asked. "A colt was born to Canter! Oh father, isn't that great?" Emily excitedly told her father. "Oh Emily, that is great! Did you name him?" Emily's father asked. "Yes, I named him Windy." She said. "So," began her father, " Canter had a girl, Wendy was a perfect name for her. "Not Wendy! Canter had a boy and I named him Windy." Emily corrected.

6
Just then, Justin, Emily's older brother came in. "What's all the noise about?! I'm trying to catch some sleep here!". "Justin," began their father, "Canter had a colt and his name is Windy. Besides, it's already eight thirty. You should be up now." "Who chose that name?" Justin asked. "Emily did." "Emily!" laughed Justin, "Why did you give a boy colt the name of a girl?" "It's not Wendy, it's Windy" Emily said. "Oh," Said Justin, "That's just what I said." "No," began Emily,"You said Wendy. "Did not" "Did to" Did not" Did to" "Ok, that's enough, kids," Said their father, "No more fighting! Now eat your breakfast, you're going to be late for school."
7
Justin and Emily quickly ate their breakfast and got their school supplies ready. They hopped into the car and buckled their seat belts. "Mom" Emily said. "Yes, Emily" replied her mother who was adjusting the seat of the car to drive the kids to school. "Canter had a colt last night and his name is Windy." "Wendy," repeated Emily's mom,"I thought Wendy was a girl's name." "How many time do I have to say it's not Wendy!" groaned Emily,"It's Windy." Emily finished when she had calmed down a bit. Justin and Emily caught their mother up on all the things that were going on all the way to school.

In Emily's classroom, Mrs. Winter was waiting for her. "You're just in time, Emily." she said, "As a fifth grade student, you must learn to get to school a little earlier...." Emily's teacher went through a whole bunch of other stuff and all the kids were looking at them. Emily did not notice. She did not hear her teacher talking either. She was busy thinking about Windy and all the people she would have to tell. Back in Justin's classroom, he couldn't focus either. Mr. Chad asked him what five times five equalled and he said "25 horses sir." When recess came, Emily and Justin went around telling everybody the good news and were still taking about it when they came home.

Chapter 2
The Bad News
It was a rainy and gloomy day when the kids woke up the next morning. Emily woke up first at six o'clock only to find that the water outside was up to her ankles. She woke up the others to reveal the bad news. A bad hurricane had struck the night before. Later, the weather forecast told the residents that the fujiwhara effect had occurred. Although Emily and Justin could not go outside, they were happy because school was canceled. They went out back into the barn. They couldn't wait to see Windy again.

10
Emily and Justin ran into the house in panic. "Mom! Dad!" Emily shouted, "All the farm animals have been taken by the wind of the hurricane!" "WHAT!!!" cried their father. He quickly dashed outside to see what had happened. When he saw what had happened, his heart sank and he burst into tears. The children went to get their mother and they all tried to comfort the sad farmer.
After they could not comfort him anymore, Emily went to her laptop and searched her emails. She got one new one from her BFF Katrina. Katrina told her that her own horse got wiped out and she was just a baby! "How old is she?" asked Emily. Katrina said that the horse was only one day old. "So is mine!" Emily wrote "Mine got wiped away in the storm too!"
11
Emily talked with Katrina for a few more minutes and then decided to look for her lost horse. She found her row boat and with a little bit of persuading, she got Justin to help her. They got their parent's permission and they packed some food and water. They set the boat on the shallow water and began to row. It was still raining and the water would be up to their knees if they stood in it. After half an hour of searching, they gave up. They went home and changed out of their old clothes that were soaked with water and got back to their schedule, but no matter how hard they tried, they could not stop thinking about Windy.
12
Justin challenged Emily to a game of Mancala. Emily got the board and the marbles. Emily let Justin go first. He got 5 marbles. Emily and Justin played until there was only one marble left. Emily was about to move it to her spot when the doorbell rang. The two kids pushed and shoved to get to the door first to see who it was. "Katrina!" shouted Emily when she won the race to the door. Katrina had brought her iPad and was ready to play their favorite video game, Minecraft. "But what about the game of Mancala?" Justin asked. "You win," said Emily,"I want to play Minecraft." Emily and Katrina played for a long time. Katrina had to remind Emily of a lot of the crafting recipes because Emily forgot most of them.
13
Justin, meanwhile was not having much fun. He had to go out with a pail and scoop some water for their pets, use a sponge and bucket to clear some of the flood water out of their house, feed the pets, and wipe the windows clear. When Katrina left in her canoe, the water was 4 feet deep.
By this time, everyone had forgotten about the loss of their animals. Some people were happy some were not. It was now dinner time and four stomachs were hungry! The farmer's wife cooked some corn from the crop field. While everybody else was waiting for dinner, they had to get every container that they had to scoop water from outside and bring it inside to the spare room. Then, they changed back into their wet clothes and went to buy more containers. They decreased the amount of water by about a millimeter and they used the water for their pets to drink. They also used the water to wash dishes and pets.
14
When dinner was ready, the whole family ate as much as they could, and talked about all the water that they could use from the enormous flood. After dinner, the family gave their pets baths and cleaned the tub with some other water that they had, and then went to get more water from outside to water their plants. By now, everyone in the town had heard of the advantage of the flood and started using the flood water, but the water level remained at four feet because it was still raining. The family high-fived.
