Dedicated to no one in particular. Maybe Leah the Cat, for harassing me the entire time I was putting this together.

My name is Randy. I live in Anchorage, Alaska.
2
I have always taught math, but now I teach Aviation Science at a local middle school.
3
My wife's name is Jordan.
4
Jordan is a dog groomer. Nine years ago we bought a shop for her.
5
I help out on Sundays and summer vacation, in addition to teaching full-time, so I am very busy.
6
We have two dogs: Heather the Shepherd Mix and Hemi the Chihuahua.
7
We picked these three up in a junkyard 12 years ago.
And now we can't get rid of them.
8
We spend as much time on tropical islands as possible.
It's cold in Alaska.
9
We also like to fly around Alaska in our little Cessna 172.
10
Although I am fortunate to currently teach my hobby, I am taking these classes to transition from the classroom...
11
...to the library.
12
I have been teaching for 13 years and do not want to get bored with my job. The library would let me make a change without leaving education.
13

Since I teach
full-time,
wash
dogs part-
time, and take
3 classes, I am
very busy right now.
14

I was a good reader before I started Kindergarten. I remember in first grade I found a book on paleontology (which interested me at the time) in the school library that I wanted to check out.
15

The librarian told me I couldn't have it because it was for the older kids. She took my paleontology book away and gave me a copy of Danny and the Dinosaur.
16

I left Danny and the
Dinosaur on the
counter and left
the library
without a
book.
17

I discovered the Dr. Doolittle books early in grade school. I knew I was going to be a veterinarian when I grew up.
I checked the library every time I went to see if they had gotten any more of the series in.
Occasionally they did.
18

I lost interest in reading in middle school. They assigned such boring books that I couldn't bring myself to read them.
19

High school didn't help. I recall reading an entire chapter about a turtle crossing a road in The Grapes of Wrath.
20
They really couldn't find anything more interesting for teenagers to read?
21
I currently don't read
much. I don't hate it like I
did in middle and high school.
I just don't have much time.
22
My local library recently put in a section called “apocalyptic fiction”, which surprised me because this is what I like to read.
23
Zombies...
24
Plague...
25
Nuclear war.
Fun stuff to read about.
26

I really do not have a favorite book, but one thing I look forward to every year is the annual publication of the previous year’s Walking Dead comics in hardback form.
27

If I absolutely have to choose a single favorite book, I will choose The Road, by Cormac McCarthy.
We all watch The Walking Dead on TV and imagine a world of adventure and almost fun (of course with 99% of the population dead, the reader always sees himself in the lucky 1%).
28
The Road is a more realistic story of slow starvation.
Good book.
29

As I do not particularly have a favorite book, it is hard to pick a favorite author.
30

If forced to pick one, I would have to select C.S. Lewis, though he falls far outside my favorite genre.
31

I despised the Chronicles books when I was in high school. Couldn't stand the idea of reading them...
32
... mainly because my step-sister liked them.
