"The trouble with retirement is that you never get a day off." ~Abe Lemons

CABBAGE ROLL KING

Bruno was a very successful businessman as his Polish foods made him incredibly wealthy. He started his business using his mother's recipes. The business started off small but soon grew into a huge corporation. After 40 years in the food business, Bruno was ready to retire.

He turned over control of the family business to his handsome son Danusz. Bruno had worked hard for many years and now it was time that he got to enjoy life. He wanted to live out in the country where he would garden and enjoy the peace and quiet.

WELCOME TO ST. DAVID'S

Bruno decided to move to a tiny little town called St. David's. He bought a farm and some land and was ready to begin the next chapter of his life. It felt so good to be away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The sun was always bright and the air was so fresh. "Ah, this is the life" Bruno mused.

Bruno's garden consisted of carrots, radishes, and potatoes. He planned on growing other vegetables but he was happy with what he had done so far. What he really wanted in his garden were tomatoes but for whatever reason, he wasn't able to grow them.

One cool morning, Bruno was awoken by a loud banging at his front door. When he got to the door there was nobody there but they had left something behind. A basket full of bright, red tomatoes sat on his front porch. "Hmm, that's odd" he thought as he placed the tomatoes on his kitchen table.

After finishing his breakfast, Bruno was ready to spend another day enjoying outside. That was until he started to hear rumbles of thunder. It was pouring rain and it didn't look like it was going to stop anytime soon. So Bruno decided to spend his time doing some long overdue housework.

While he vacuumed and dusted, Bruno put on some music to liven up his morning. Bruno was a huge Paul Anka fan and so he cranked up one of his favourite CDs and began singing along. "Oh please, stay by me....." "Diana!" "Hey! Who was that?" Bruno asked. "Down here!" Bruno looked all over but nobody was around. And then he looked down at the basket of tomatoes.

When Bruno looked down, he was in total shock. In the basket of tomatoes were three tomatoes that didn't look like the others. One was wearing a baseball cap, one wore glasses while the third was on the pudgy site. "I'm Alan and these are my brothers Steven and Thaddeus." "You guys can talk?" "Oh yeah" answered Alan, "But we really love to sing."

Even though Bruno enjoyed his quiet life in the country, it was kinda nice to have the house filled with laughter and song. And for a trio of tomatoes they were actually pretty good little singers. It was a bit weird sharing a home with three tomatoes but Bruno eventually started getting used to it. Although Alan could be a handful at times......

"ALAN! ALAN! ALLLAAANNN!!!!"
The other two tomatoes were good boys. And then there was Alan who could be a real stinker at times. But he was harmless and just more curious than anything else. Bruno was anxious to introduce the tomatoes to his son Danusz. But he wanted to keep this whole thing a secret. Besides, who would ever believe him?

Bruno couldn't wait for his son to arrive so he could show them the tomatoes and their incredible talent. "Danusz! You have to listen to these tomatoes. They can sing!" "What?" "Just come over here. Okay boys....hit it!" But nothing happened. The tomatoes just sat there in silence. "Um, yeah. Well I have to get going. I got tickets to see some dancing celery" Danusz chuckled on his way out.
