Chapter 1: Self-esteem
Q:What is self-esteem?
A: Self esteem is having confidence in yourself. It is how you see yourself and your worth. You have low self-esteem if you judge yourself harshly.
Q:How does self-esteem effect body image?
A: If you are worried about your body, that is part of self esteem. Good body image is important in self esteem and helps you have a positive outlook on life and a positive attitude in general.
Q:How can someone improve their self-esteem?
A:If you feel frustrated or upset to talk to a therapist, try going for a walk or a run, listen to music, or do a favorite activity. Sometimes expressing how you feel can actually be more helpful than keeping feelings to yourself.
Q:Personal experiences...
A:I personally have had times where my self-esteem was very low. If I start to feel bad about myself I always listen to music. Music is my escape, there are so many different songs by so many different people. I feel like no matter what mood I am in I can find a song that will go with my mood.
Chapter 2: Dating Guidelines
Five qualities healthy relationships contain: trust, honesty, respect, accountability, and shared responsibility.
Common qualities of an unhealthy relationship: worry, pressure, neglection, lack of trust, and violence.

My personal experiences include my mother being a social worker. She dealt with abuse in the household and I heard and saw some of her experiences at work. My parents are divorced, too so there was some verbal abuse at home as a child. When my mother worked in DFS she helped people get out of those kinds of situations, and the children that were stuck in the middle of them.
Chapter 3: Sexting Guidelines
Q:What is sexting?
A: Receiving and sending of explicit messages between phones. Usually inappropriate or nude texts/ videos/images. Sexting has serious consequences and can be a federal offense.
Q:How is it used?
A:It is used between phones via text. People send pictures to each other and is used in relationships.
Q:What are the dangers of sexting?
A:The sexts could be leaked and seen by the wrong people. Being in possession of a nude picture of anyone under 18 is considered a sex related crime
Q:What are some consequences?
A:There are emotional consequences such as harassment and bullying if the pictures or videos are seen by fellow peers or parents. There are also more severe consequences if the pictures are of a minor, this includes being charged with child pornography or being listed as a sex offender.
Chapter 3: cont'd
My personal experiences include hearing about my peers and their sexts. It is very common in today's world and is a common occurrence in high schools. I have heard of several people who have taken pictures that have been leaked and being sexually harassed for them on a regular basis. That kind of thing stays with you throughout high school and is not a reputation you want to have.

Chapter 4: Dating Violence
Three types of violence are physical violence, verbal violence, and neglect.
Some resources to get help for dating violence are
-National Sexual Assault Hotline
-Impact Program
-National Domestic Violence Hotline

Appropriate conflict resolutions include talking through problems and not fighting about disagreements. When a couple has issues, they should move slowly and cautiously to try and fix them. If you jump into things, you can say things you don't mean and will later regret.
I suggest that you are always kind, but share issues when they are first approached. In a relationship, honesty is crucial and should be dealt with on a regular basis. From personal experience, I say you should be open with your partner and considerate of their opinions and feelings.
Cycle Of Violence:
Tension Building-In this stage, many issues build up and verbal abuse begins. The victim starts to try to please the threatening batterer. Batterer is violent and gets upset easily.
Acute Explosion-Batterer acts upon threats. Rape, hitting, humiliation, and use of weapons is common in this stage. Victim tries to reason with partner and calms them. Occasionally victim will leave or fight back.
Honeymoon Phase-Victim takes the batterer back and agrees to stay. The batterer, however, comes up with excuses and apoloigizes. This cycle is continuous, though.

Chapter 5: Sexual Harassment Guidelines
The five types of sexual harassment are: Gender Harassment, Seductive Behavior, Sexual Bribery, Sexual Coercion, and Sexual Imposition.
You should respond to sexual harassment by being direct and making sure they know they are harassing you and you don't like it. You should also tell someone about the harassment and try to get help as soon as it start. Don't blame yourself for the harassment.

Consequences for sexual harassment
Victims- includes psychological disorders such as depression, anxiety, sleep disorders, or even weight loss/gain.
Harassers- Will probably have to go through therapy or counseling, reassignment, suspension, or possibly termination of employment.

Chapter 6:Cyber-Bullying & Bullying Guidelines
Cyber-bullying is different from bullying because it is used online. It is easier for kids to be bullied through the use of the internet because they aren't face to face. In cyber bullying, the bully can see it as joking or messing around. The victim doesn't see sarcasm or body language through the computer so cyber bullying often starts that way. In regular bullying, it is more physical than verbal.
Three types of bullying are: cyber- bullying, physical bullying, and verbal bullying.
