for
Riley, Cooper, Campbell and Reese
Making another memory with you!
Christmas 2016
Love, Grandma and Grandpa

“Hey guys! Hey guys! Hey guys! Come here.”
Reese called.
Reluctantly they all gathered around.
“Ok, what’s going on? What’s all the noise?”
Cooper wanted to know.
“I have an idea. Listen to this. Let’s play Hide and Seek!
It’ll be fun. Right guys??”
Riley and Cooper and Campbell all looked at each other
and tried not to roll their eyes.

“Hmmm,” Riley began. “Well I have
an awful lot of texting to catch up
on. I’m not sure it can wait.”
Cooper got right to the point.
Hide and Seek? How boring!! I have to
practice my soccer.
And Campbell, well Campbell started,“I was
kinda thinking about doing, well,
I don’t know – something.”

Reese sighed, hung her head and began to slowly walk away.
Riley and Cooper and Campbell felt really bad. They didn’t want to hurt Reese’s feelings.
Riley really didn’t have to do all that texting right now.
Cooper really didn’t need to practice soccer right now.
Campbell, well Campbell really hadn’t come up with a good reason not to play.
“Ok,” said Riley, nudging and nodding to her siblings, “you’re on! Let’s go!”
Everyone took off in different directions.
“Wait! Wait! Wait!” shouted Campbell. “Who’s gonna hide and who’s gonna seek?”
Everyone stopped in their tracks and walked back.
“Good question. Let’s take turns. First Reese and Campbell will look for Riley and me and then we’ll switch. Ok?” Cooper asked.
They all agreed. Cooper and Riley took off while Reese and Campbell stuck together and planned their strategy.
“You look out front and I’ll look out back.”
“Good. Let’s go.”
Off Campbell and Reese went to seek.

Reese found Riley right away. It wasn’t difficult because even though she had found a good hiding place, Riley’s hairbow was sticking out!

Campbell had a bit of a challenge hunting down Cooper. That is until she remembered to look up. That silly Cooper was always climbing things. She looked up and, thinking she spotted him, climbed up herself.
“Oh darn.” Cooper exclaimed.

Back to home base they went. This time Reese and Campbell took off.
Campbell was good at disguising herself but was no match for Riley’s skills.
Reese didn’t know what to do or where to hide. She tried camouflage but didn’t get too far before Cooper found her.
“No fair!” Reese cried.
Cooper just laughed, as silly brothers were known to do.

They all played a few more rounds of Hide and Seek before getting tired. It was not always easy to admit, but they truly did have fun together.

"That was great!" declared Reese. "What shall we do next?"
"Um, next?" they asked as they were walking away.
Riley was still thinking about all the texting she "needed" to do and Cooper was looking longingly at his soccer ball and Campbell, well Campbell was still trying to think of something else to do or somewhere else to go.

"Ok, Bubba, what's your idea?" Riley sighed.
"Let's do one of Gram's science experiments!"
she said.
"Uh, well that could be dangerous with no adult here." Campbell explained.
"Oh, it's ok. I called Gram and she told me what to do. Remember the experiment that didn't work and we had fun anyway?" Reese shared.
