I'd like to thank Mrs. Freed for making this the best semester of English I've ever been through. All the characters in this story were created by I, Sarah Noble. Thank you to everyone who made this a great semester!

There once was a young girl named Avalon Loalax. All she wanted in her life was for people to accept who she was but that wouldn’t happen, because Avalon was different from everyone else. She tried to convince everyone that she was just like them, but nobody would ever believe her- they were taught to fear her.

At a mere 13 years old, Avalon ran away from home; she couldn’t take it anymore, and she just needed to get away from the people surrounding her. All they did was tell Avalon how she doesn’t belong in their community, and how much of a disgrace she was to them.

At first, the escape from reality was the best thing that ever happened to Avalon. There was nobody holding her back; only the sounds of wind and scurrying animals filled her ears. She was as happy as she could be but nothing stays perfect forever, does it?

One day, while Avalon was sitting by a stream, a little bird came by and started talking to her. This was normal for Ava, as this was why she was called different- she could speak to animals.

?
The little bird hopped around Ava’s feet frantically.
“Avalon! Oh my, miss Avalon! It has happened again! The creatures on 2 legs, the ones with the giant eyes, they’ve talked! Oh yes miss Avalon, they talked! ‘Remember the freak?’ ‘remember her?’ They asked questions miss Loalax, oh, they asked questions!” The little bird said.

!!

Ava looked at the bird with a confused look on her face.
“The people back at my old home? Oh, don’t worry about them at all little bird! They could only be jealous of the life I have now! I shall go back to the village, and show my face- what will they do then, run?”

The next day, Avalon went back to her village, and walked up to one of the girls who used to make fun of her.

Let's go!
“Remember me?” She said.
“A-avalon Loalax?” the girl stuttered out fearfully.
“Word comes around, you know.” said Avalon smoothly. “A little bird came up to me and told me how you guys still sometimes talk about me.” She continued.
“Talk about you? No- well, yes, but- It’s nothing bad- I promise!” The girl said fearfully.
