An aerial is a gymnastics move in which the gymnast does a cartwheel in the air without touching the floor


is for balance beam
The balance beam is an event in gymnastics that is a solid piece of wood, 4 feet off the ground, and 4 inches wide. Gymnasts do all sorts of tricks on it.


is for clear hip circle

A clear hip circle is an element gymnasts do in the bars where they move around the bar in a circle without their hips touching the bar.

is for double back
A double back is when a gymnast does two flips in the air without touching the ground in between


is for events
There are four events in gymnastics; bars, beam, floor, and vault.


is for flyaway

A flyaway is an element on the bars where the gymnast lets go on the high bar and does a back flip on to the mat.

is for giant

Giants are when the gymnast does a handstand on the bar and swigs all the way around in the that position.

is for handstand

A handstand is where the gymnast has their hands on the floor and their feet in the air in a straight line.

is for inverted cross

An inverted cross is on the rings in Men's gymnastics where the gymnast in in a handstand with their hands in a horizontal line holding on to the rings

is for jete

A ballet term that describes a leap from one leg to another.

is for kip

A kip is a gliding movement a gymnast does to get below the bars to a front support on the bar.

is for layout stepout

A layout stepout is a back flip in a layout position (a straight, stretched body position)

is for mount

A mount is how a gymnast gets on to an apparatus such as the beam or bars.

is for needle scale

A needle scale is when a gymnast has one foot on the ground and the other foot in the air making a straight line with their legs and their arms on the ground.

is for Olympic order

Olympic order in the order for international competitions. The order for women's gymnastics is: vault, bars, beam, and floor. The order fro men's gymnastics is floor exercise, pommel horse, still rings, vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar.
is for pivot turn

A pivot turn is a turn on the ball of the foot.
