This book is dedicated to my little sisters,
Caroline and Sheila.

Wake up Emily!
"Wake up Emily, it's time for school!", said Emily's mother. Today is a very special day, it is Emily's first day at her new school! Emily was very excited and nervous. She got up as fast as lightning and got dressed.

Not so fast!

As soon as she was dressed, she ran to the living room and before she could head outside, her dad stopped her. "Not so fast young lady!" , said her dad, " I want you to learn and pay attention at school, so you must eat breakfast!"
Emily sighed. She wanted to get to school early so she could have time to at least meet her new teachers.

As they approached Emily's new school, Emily began to get nervous. She thought about how to make new friends and be herself while doing it. She pictured herself making lots of new friends and having a great time while learning. She stared out her window and saw that the sun was hiding behind clouds. She needed the sun's brightness more than ever.

Hi! I'm new.
Welcome!
When she got to school, she entered her first class. Her teacher, Mrs. Mathews, greeted her saying, "Welcome to our class!". Emily already felt welcomed. She was happy and very excited.

"Who's the new girl?", asked Stephanie. Stephanie was the head cheerleader, the president of the student council, and the most popular girl in school. Stephanie was known for her mean comments and rude attitude. Emily's excitement was soon over. Now, she thought that Stephanie would bully her.

"Take a seat anywhere you would like, Emily." said Mrs. Mathews. Emily took the seat farthest away from Stephanie. She didn't want to be near her because she was scared. Unfortunately, Stephanie ended up sitting right next to Emily. Emily instantly regretted her decision, but she stuck through it all.

Emily's next class was reading. She loved to read, so maybe this class wouldn't be so bad. She began to daydream about reading books all day long, and soon got distracted. She stayed staring at the window while the teacher, Mrs. Wilson, was teaching the lesson.
