This book is made for Mr. Kust's S.S class.

Once upon a time, a group of people from the 13 colonies got together in the city of Philidelphia. They were nicknamed the Framers. They wrote a big rule book for the United States, called the Constitution.

The first 10 amendments, or rules, are about the people. If you live in the United States, these are called your rights. Ready to learn about them? This is Bill. He is going to take you on a journey through the Bill of Rights.

Amendment l
On the 4th of July, we celabrate our freedoms. The first amendment tells about those freedoms. All people of the United States have the freedom of speech, religion, and the press, or the news. Also, people have the right to assemble or protest, and to petition the government.


Amendment ll


The second amendment gives people the right to use and carry guns.
Amendment lll
The third amendment is about how when there isn't a war you don't have to let soliders live in your house. Back when the Constitution was written, this was an important part of the Bill of Rights.








No there is no war. You cannot live here
Amendment lV

Amendment 4 gives people protection from police coming in your house and violating your rights. Amendment 4 says that without a warrent or permission from the government police can not search around your house.





You cannot search my home without a warrant or a good reason regarding the law!
Amendment V
Amendment 5 tells about how the government can not take away your rights or property without due process of the law. Due process means that the government can not just take your life or property because they want to.


Amendment Vl

Amendment 6 tells all about criminal cases. A criminal case is a trial against a person accused for commiting a crime. The 6th Amendment gives people the right to a speedy trial and keeps them from having to go to trial twice.
