"I am, I am, I am Superman and I know what's happening
I am, I am, I am Superman and I can do anything."
-REM "Superman"

For the past ten years, Kal has lived in a quiet farming town in Iowa. He is the only son of Marty and Georgia Olsen. But Kal is not like the other kids his age. Actually he's not like anyone else at all. Kal's story is quite remarkable, almost unbelievable.

Kal was a good kid, a good son, and a good student. He had lots of friends and spent his free time working on his parents' farm. Life was pretty good for Kal, maybe a little too good. Things seemed to be just a little too perfect.

Kal had many human friends but his best buddy was his dog Elle. The pair would spend hours playing fetch, going for walks, and taking restful naps in the barn together. Kal couldn't have asked for a better childhood. Little did he know that soon his life would be changed forever.

Once his chores and homework were done, Kal and Elle would disappear for hours. Kal liked to toss a tiny red squeaky ball that Elle would chase after. Every time Kal threw the ball, Elle would bring it back covered in doggy slobber. This time Elle didn't return with the ball so a curious Kal went to investigate.

A tractor was just about to hit Elle when Kal ran over and stopped it with his bare hands. He left a big dent in the front of the front of the tractor as well. "Oh no! Kid, are you okay? Is the dog okay?" "Yeah. We're fine." "What happened to my tractor?" "I don't know" Kal responded a little confused by the whole scene.

That night Kal was pretty quiet during dinner. He barely talked as he kept thinking about what had happened earlier that day. When he went up to his bedroom he looked at his arms and hands and there were no cuts, bruises, or scratches. What was going on? The entire incident seemed to frighten him more than anything else.

Kal was in a bit of a daze the following day and hoped that football practice would make him feel better. Kal was a terrific athlete and easily the best player on the team. He was hoping to become to team's starting quarterback.

"What the...?
He had a powerful arm and was very accurate with his passes. He never missed when he threw the ball to his receivers. "Five, Seven, Hut Hut!" Kal took the snap and threw the ball over the head of the wide receiver. He threw the ball so hard that it just kept going and going and going...............

BEEP! BEEP!
Everybody started looking and pointing at Kal. They began to whisper to one another that there was something strange about their friend. Embarrassed, Kal dropped his helmet on the field and ran off. "What was going on?" he thought to himself. BEEP! BEEP! Deep in thought, Kal didn't hear or see the car behind him.

"What the.....?
At the last second, Kal jumped out of the way of the car. He had avoided the car but even more concerning was the fact that he was still up in the air. And not only was he still in the air, he was flying! "Whoa!" Kal exclaimed as he began to soar threw the clouds. "This is awesome!"

Soon Kal was soaring through the sky as if he had been born to fly. He still didn't understand what was happening but boy was he ever having fun. That was until he started showing off and ended up crashing through the roof of his family's barn.

Luckily for Kal he landed in a big pile of hay. His Mom and Dad came running from the house to find out where all the commotion was coming from. "Hey, are you okay son?" his Dad asked. "I don't know. What's going on with me?" "What do you mean?" "A lot of weird things have been going on that I just can't explain."
