This story is dedicated to girls who are told they can't do something because of their gender.

"Mom, I love soccer so much why can't I play anymore?" I question. My mom turns her back to me and sighs. "I'm sorry Ivy, but girls shouldn't play sports. That's for boys. With that being said we're not discussing this anymore am I understood?" "Yes Ma..." I couldn't keep the tear from falling as I went back to my room.
Soccer posters covered my walls and littered my floor and all I could think about was how I should be able to do what I love. It's not fair that boys can play and girls can't. Suddenly I heard a knocking against my window and I saw my best friend. "Aye Ivy, come play with us! We need a good goalie." "I don't know Nate my mom told me I shouldn't." I mumble.
We sat in silence for a moment before Nate looked at me and said, "Come on Ivy your mom hasn't seen what you can do. Maybe if she saw you play her thinking would change." "I'll try but I don't know if she'll show up." "Ok I'll meet you at the field bye." And just like that he left me to get ready for our match.

I changed into my padded pants and purple long sleeve shirt. As I tossed my cleats and gloves into my bag I shot my mom a quick text asking her to please come to the game and watch me play. I told her that if she still didn't like me playing that I would give up the sport.
I jump out of my window and start my walk towards the open field. I blast "Drip From My Walk" by Famous Dex and Sauce Walka through my beats. Music helps me block out any doubts of winning.
As I walk to the goal to warm up I see the hard stares from the other team. I'm the only girl playing like usual and the last thing they want is to have their shot blocked by me. "Hey Nate is there anyone that I need to watch?" "Yeah number six. He likes to curve balls into the top right cornrer but you block those all the time so you'll be fine." He reassures me
