Most people think about cold temperature, snow, and hot chocolate when they think of winter. On the other hand, scientists see it as when the top half of the Earth is tilted the farthest away from the Sun as possible. This makes the bottom half of the Earth experience the warmth of long summer days while the top half endures short days filled with cold weather.
Winter

Spring
When spring time rolls around, the weather gets warmer, days get longer, and many animals give birth to their young (like cows, birds, and ducks). Spring is also a time where the axis of the Earth begins to tilt toward the Sun and the Northern Hemisphere (top half) of the Earth starts turning toward the Sun again.

Summer
The warmest time of the year with the longest days, Summer is sure to put a smile on your face! Summer break, vacations, crop growing and more all happen in the summer! In astronomy (the study of space and stars), it is when Earth's axis is facing toward the Sun, giving us the summer heat we know and love!

Autumn
This is when the weather starts to get colder, plants stop making food, leaves turn different colors and fall off trees, and animals gather food. During fall, the axis of the Earth begins to turn away from the Sun.
