Well do you see those big window looking things on my roof? They are called solar panels, and they create energy from the sun!

But Johnny you still have not told me what energy is!

Well Rachel, energy is what makes your lights turn on, it is what makes your car move forward, it is what is in your food to keep you going through the day! Energy is a lot of things, but the solar panels help with electricity, which is a form of energy!

Oh wow Johnny! So how do these solar panels work? Should I get them too?

Well it uses the rays of the sun to make electricity!

Yes of course, it really helps our planet to use the sun for electricity.

Yes, my dad also put on some really cool light bulbs! These light bulbs use less electricity and don't cost a lot of money!

Yes Rachel, they all have the energy star symbol which means that their refrigerator, washing machine, dryer, and other things use less energy than other appliances. It is very good to have these appliances in your home.
