I dedicate this book to all of the donkeys that aren't going to read this. Thanks y'all.

On a bright sunny day, Violeta was playing with her best friend, Rosie. They were playing in the front yard of Rosie’s house.

Rosie’s mother had just brought them out fresh lemonade for a refreshing snack. “Rosie, don’t forget Lily is coming over today!” Her mother informed her before walking back inside.

Violeta had no idea who Lily was. “Who is Lily?” She asked. “She is a friend is my class.” Rosie said casually. Rosie went back to playing with her sidewalk chalk.

Violeta didn’t know what to expect when meeting Lily. She didn’t know what Lily looked like or how she acted.

A car pulled up onto the side of the street. A mother got out of the car and helped a little girl get out. She was in a wheelchair that seemed to be electronic.
Violeta had never seen her around the school, she must’ve been new. Rosie ran over to open the gate and let them inside. “Hi, Lily!” Rosie said cheerfully.

“Hi! Who is your friend?” Lily asked, noticing Violeta. Violeta had never seen someone in a wheelchair before. She didn’t know if she would like Lily.

Lily and Rosie moved over to Violeta. “This is Violeta. She is my other friend.” Rosie said. Lily smiled at Violeta and waved at her. “Nice to meet you.” She said.

Violeta forced a smile, but decided to continue playing with her chalk. “C’mon guys, we can go play inside.” Rosie said, knowing there wasn’t much Lily could do outside.

Violeta wanted to continue playing outside. She didn’t want to play with Lily. She didn’t like her because she couldn’t do things other girls could.

She wanted to have Rosie to herself. Rosie was her best friend. She decided to jump rope by herself. That only lasted a few minutes before Rosie came back out.

“Violeta, why aren’t you playing with us?” Rosie asked. Violeta shrugged. “I don’t like Lily.” Violeta complained.

“Why?” Rosie asked. “She can’t play like us. I want to play with chalk and jump rope.” Violeta whined. “We can still play with those, but she can’t do that. We have to find something else to do.” Rosie explained.
