To Coach Harrell-
American Revolution Assignment:

Introduction-
Between a Loyalist or a patriot during the American Revolution, I would rather be a Patriot!
I say this for three main reasons.Patriots fought for our country, while Loyalists did not,Patriots also had less supplies than the Loyalists but succeeded greatly, and then Patriots had amazing tools to help them fight! For these reasons, I believe that being a Patriot would be better than being a Loyalist!
Fighting for Independence-
Patriot-
Patriots are soldiers who fought for their own country.
This meant that they were fighting for Independence, freedom, and more rights to become a good nation!
Others may feel that Loyalists are better, because they actually stayed loyal to their mother country, but I still disagree!
Loyalists staying loyal to their mother country, doesn't cause me to change my opinion because I would want to fight for my own country ,too!
I would not want to stay loyal to my mother country because of the rights, and laws that I would have to follow, therefore I would rather fight to have a better nation to live in!
In all, Patriots had to work really hard to gain Independence. They had to work a lot harder to fight than Loyalists, but despite this statement, I would rather fight hard to have my own united country with good laws, than to have to live by other laws that are not free and independent.
Small Ships/ Tough Experiences-
The second reason why I would rather be a Patriot is because of the many obstacles that led them to success!
Patriots during the war had to experience difficult challenges, such as small ships.
The Patriots didn't have as many ships as Loyalists, but because of that, they were able to pass through many waterways, which were very shallow.
Loyalists on the other hand, had many difficulties throughout the times of water experiences because of their enormous ships!
Others may say that they would rather be a Loyalists because they would not have to work as hard as the Patriots.
Even though Patriots had to work harder during the fight, I would still be brave enough to fight harder, because it could help me in the end a lot!
To sum it up, I feel that I would still want to be a Patriot, although it took a lot more effort. I feel this way because, from what I understand, a war is not about how much effort it takes, it's about your braveness, and what you feel is important, also it is about receiving something better than what you had ,such as, Freedom and Independence!
