"Try to learn something about everything and everything about something." - Thomas Huxley

We have been watching the universe from our planet for centuries. When we find a planet that doesn't follow our rules, it is destroyed. I don't like it. I wish we were a peaceful alien race that wanted to learn more about those we share the universe with.

We live on a planet called FOZZIE. We are ruled by a king who also happens to be my Dad. "What are you looking at?" "It's called Earth. I'm thinking of sending our spaceships into their orbit. But first I need to send someone to visit that planet to see if there's anything we can take from them. And I choose you." "Me?" I gulped.

I had never gone on a mission before. I was so nervous. My Dad would be sending me instructions through an ear piece. It was my duty to find out as much as I could about Earth and report back home. From there my Dad and his council would decide if they would invade or destroy the planet.

ASTRONOMY CLASS
WITH MS. STARDUST
After a smooth landing in the middle of a field, I walked over to something called a "school." Apparently it is a place where children go to learn. I tried to fit in as best as I could be dressing like the other kids. "Class, I'd like to welcome a new student to our school, um....here he is...New Kid!" I had all the supplies I needed for my mission. I just forgot to come up with a human name.

After school some of the boys in my class came over to talk to me at my locker. "Hey New Kid! Wanna shoot some hoops?" "Hoops?" "It's another word for basketball" my Dad said in my earpiece. "Oh sure. I love to play hoops." We don't have sports on my planet. I didn't know what I was going to do when they passed me that big orange ball.

I had a few embarrassing moments at first when I tripped over the ball and even tried to eat it Eventually I started to get good at this basketball game. "Can you dunk New Kid?" one of the boys asked. "Bet you can't." "Dunk?" "It means to slam the ball through the hoop." "I'll give it a try" I said as I leapt into the air. Not used to the Earth's gravity I ended up flying up into the sky. I just kept going and going. "Show off!" one of the kids sneered.

I had jumped so high that I landed on the moon. By the time I returned to Earth the other kids had gone home. Well, that sure was an interesting first day on Earth. As I made my way back to my ship I overheard a group of boys teasing another child.

"Listen nerd, you're going to do all of our homework for the next two weeks or else!" "Okay, just don't hurt me." "What do I do Dad? This isn't fair." "It's all about survival. Our species does not show compassion. It makes one look weak. Get back to your ship and file your report." I couldn't let that poor kid be bullied for no reason. I had to act.

I disobeyed my Dad and rescued the kid from the group of bullies. They actually weren't so tough after all. They took one look at my spacecraft and started to cry before they all ran away. I transported the kid onto my ship. It looked as though my mission was about to be exposed. But I didn't care. I did the right thing.

Rather then dropping the boy off at home, I decided to do a little exploring. I told my new friend all about my planet and myself. He was more curious than fearful. "I really want to learn more about your world. Do you want to go for a little trip around the planet?" "That's not part of your mission son. Take the child home and finish your report. Don't make me come down there." I decided to take out my earpiece and tossed it out the window.

"My name isn't New Kid. It's B-ONE. I've been sent here to learn about your planet." "Cool!" "You're not afraid?" "I'm new to this area as well. My family came here from Mexico and I don't have many friends. My name is Eduardo but you can call me Eddie." "Hold on Eddie, we're about to fly around the world at warp speed. "Cool!"
