I want to dedicate this book to my sister, Jessie, who always shoots for the stars.

Skylar lived a wonderful and fortunate life. She lived with her Mom, Dad, and her Grandpa.

After a long day of school, Skylar went to look out her window at the stars. While she was looking, her Grandpa came upstairs to join her.

"Someday, you will touch the stars Skylar." Her grandpa said.
"Don't be silly grandpa." Skylar said "that's not possible."
"But is it impossible?" Her grandpa asked.
This gave Skylar something to think about that night as she went to sleep.

When Skylar awoke, she went downstairs to the kitchen. When she entered the kitchen, her mom was crying and her dad was trying to comfort her.
"What's wrong?" Skylar asked, for she was worried.
"Skylar, we have some bad news." Her father said sadly.
"Your grandfather has passed away." Her mom said between sobs.
Skylar was shocked. So shocked she ran up to her bedroom to think and to cry about the news.

Skylar stayed in her room all day. She cried and cried. She wondered why her grandpa had to leave her. She wanted to look at the stars with him. Skylar was lonely. Then she remembered what her grandpa had told her.
"Someday you will touch the stars, Skylar."
After a while Skylar was tired of crying. She stopped crying and went to lay down. While she was laying there, she noticed a figure in the corner.
"Who's there?" Skylar asked.
When nobody replied, she got up and walked over. She nearly fell over when she saw who it was. It was her grandpa!

"Let's go on an adventure!" He said excitedly.
"Where are we going?" Skylar asked.
"You'll have to find out." Her grandpa replied.
So Skylar took his hand and they were off. They soared above the little town, where Skylar grew up. As they gained height, Skylar began to get a little nervous.
"Grandpa, where are we going?" Skylar asked.
"We are going to the stars." He replied.

Up and up Skylar and her grandpa went. When they reached the stars, Skylar was speechless. There was so much to look at. The planets, the colors, but Skylar's favorite were the stars.

While Skylar was looking around, she didn't notice what her grandpa was holding up to her. It was a special little star.
"It is your very own star. Only the owner of the star can see it in the night sky." He said.
Skylar tentatively took the star from his hands. When she looked up at him, he just nodded.
