"When so many are lonely as seem to be lonely, it would be inexcusably selfish to be lonely alone." - Tennessee Williams

Prudence was one spoiled little girl. She was an only child and got everything she asked for. Her parents were incredibly wealthy so money was no object.

Prudence wasn't very close to her parents. They tried to buy her love by showering her with gifts rather than affection. For a little girl who had everything she ever wanted, it wasn't enough.

"I'm so sorry Muffin, but I won't be here for your 8th birthday." "I'm turning 9." "Really? Anyways, I'm going to Africa for a business trip but I promise that I will bring back something spectacular!"
HAPPY BIRTHDAY PRUDENCE!

"I don't get it Winchester. Where is everybody?" "Perhaps your friends were not able to afford the long list of gift suggestions that you sent them." "Maybe. Where's Mother?" "She's at her tennis lesson Miss Prudence." "Oh, I see."

"We're about 20 minutes away sir." "Fantastic! My little girl is going to be so excited about her birthday surprise." "What's her name sir?" "Priscilla, Patricia, I don't remember. Think it starts with a P."

"There you are. How was your party?" "Terrible." "Poor thing. Here's the big surprise that I promised you. I've brought you the greatest gift ever. Too bad Mother isn't here to see this. Oh well, without further adieu here he is.........."

"You got me an elephant???" "I saw him walking around Africa so I had some gentleman capture him for me. Oh, he put up quite the fight but here he is. Your brand new playmate." Prudence just stood there with her mouth wide open.

Prudence never had a pet before. Her parents owned a couple of dogs but there were only around to enter contests. What was she going to do with an elephant? Did she try to teach him some tricks? What would she feed him? She had no idea how to look after an elephant.

Over the next few days, something strange began to happen. Prudence started to bond with the elephant. She would help Winchester give him baths in the pool. Prudence was a little rich girl who had everything, everything except for friends. But that all changed with the elephant.
