Dedicated to my original story

I woke up startled by the sound of shattered glass, I desperately fumbled for my glasses to inspect what was happening outside. As I slid on my glasses I stumbled through the front door and to my absolute horror I saw fire everywhere, cars collided with each other and houses completely destroyed. Suddenly, I began to hear cracking, I looked at my feet. The soil around me began to erode and an acrid smell choked me.
The soil around me began to erode and an acrid smell choked me. There’s an earthquake in the neighborhood, wait that’s not right, an earthquake hit San Francisco, again! I hurried to the car, climbing into the driver’s seat, I thrusted the engines into action. I sped down the street attempting to evade the earthquake, going as far as I could.

Year: 2064

As I headed towards the toll area I turned on the radio. “An enormous tsunami has once again hit Japan,” cried the reporter “Australia’s in disastrous conditions with cyclones and droughts!” I was petrified, what is going on? Are all the countries having their own disaster? Except that would be insane! Shaking off the fear I headed towards the airport.
As I got a view of the city, I couldn’t believe it. Fire was everywhere, city buildings were tumbling down and multiple wailing sirens sounded from fire trucks desperately trying to save people. This was it. I had to depart from San Francisco.
As I sped along the corroded and dusty highway I saw an old man walking and shouting, I felt pity for him, I parked my car on the side of the road and ran towards the man. “Don’t help young man,” soothed the old man, his shuddering finger pointed towards the airport. My eyes were glued to the horrific sight of once a grand and beautiful place, now in ruins.

I couldn't believe what I saw, the sight of fire made me scream as if needles were repeatedly piercing me. I fell on my knees as I recapped about all the appalling scenes I had experienced. Suddenly, I returned to the present. I began to bawl over my hopelessness, I was stuck in San Francisco. Now what was going to be my fate?
“Young man, what do you intend to do in this world,” whispered the old man limping beside me.
“I intend to survive this global disaster.” I replied with a hesitant voice.
“Then go, help this world with your brilliant young mind,” persuaded the old man. “Let your inspiration shine like a light in the dark.”
As he spoke those words, a sensation shot up my spine like a lightning bolt sailing towards earth. I had to help the seismologists in some way, so that we could find a way to control this disaster. As I jumped into the car the radio sounded again. “Reports have shown that of the human population has been diminished, will humanity survive this death day?” I wondered, how could a of humanity have already died out so quickly?
