One Christmas eve Max and his brother Toby were sitting by the fire enjoying the warmth. They were both thinking of what to get each other for Christmas.

What should I get Toby?

Max was the oldest, so he was thinking especially hard to find a present for his younger brother. He wanted to make sure his brother knew that he loved him and that he would do anything for him.

"Maybe I could swap my favourite chew toy for a new bed for Toby, it'll go great with his blanket" thought Max. "I should go to the store now and see what I can do"

Max made his way towards the door and quickly made up an excuse before Toby could ask him any questions.
"I won't be out too long, I'm just going to pick up our Christmas dinner." reasoned Max.
"Ok, hurry back," Toby replied.

Carrying his favourite chew toy, Max hurried to the store, hoping it was still open. "Please be open. Please be open." He muttered to himself.

The door opened with a 'ding-a-ling' as Max entered the store. He was greeted by the nice shopkeeper.
"Hello, what can I do for you this evening?" asked the shopkeeper.
"I was just wondering if you had any blue beds." Max replied.
With a grin the storekeeper responded, "Yes, we do. Would you be interested in buying one?"
"Yes please, but I don't have any money." max replied, "Could I trade in my favourite chew toy in exchange for the new bed?"
The storekeeper looked at the toy, then back at Max.
"I suppose, but why would you want to trade in this toy if it's your favourite?" asked the storekeeper.
Max thought for a moment, then said, "It's for my brother. He needs a bed more than I need a chew toy."
"That's very kind, you must love your brother very much." said the storekeeper to Max.
"Here." He said as he handed Max the new bed taking his toy and putting it on a shelf.
"Thank you sir. Merry Christmas!" called Max as he raced out the door.
Max bounded through the door and placed the bed under their Christmas tree.
"There. I hope Toby likes it." Max said to himself.
