The sun was rising over the building. Kenny sighed, as he stood before the door. He was very tall, with his golden-hazel eyes and his dirty blonde hair, blowing in the breeze. Kenny was anxious today, for some reason, as he walked into the building where he had worked everyday except Sunday, for the past 32 years. He didn’t want to work here anymore, especially live here, because nobody seemed to have a connection with each other. As Kenny is walking into his office, he notices the mayor, Robert in there, which was very unusual and only happens when there was something important to be addressed. Kenny felt a chill as he sat down in his chair across the table from where the mayor was sitting.
CHAPTER 1
“Kenny, I want you to take over the community, since I am resigning from my position, because I no longer have the capability to do so, but are you willing to take on this challenge?”, Robert asked.
Kenny sat there in shock, “Ye... yes sir.”
Kenny had so many things going on through his head. He had know idea what he was going to do. Kenny had not one single clue what lie ahead of him.
Later on that day, Kenny knocked on Robert’s door.
“Sir.” Kenny said shakily, “I... I think that this was all a mistake, I’m not the person for this job, I just won't do it.”
Robert replied sternly, “You, Kenny, you are the only one that is capable of this job.”
Kenny was thinking about what Robert had just told him.
Robert continued, “These people are desperate for you, they don’t know joy, they only know hatred, disrespect, and sadness, but you have intelligence and courage, and leadership. ”
“Yes sir.” Robert mumbled.
It was Sunday morning, his day off, and Kenny felt a sense of hope, but also fear in changing his community. He didn’t really think about it at the time but the words intelligence, courage, and leadership stuck with him as he thought about what Robert had told him. He thought about the word ‘love’ too. The community has the opportunity to have love and joy, but they don’t want it, they just run away from it. Kenny remembered that tomorrow was the start of his new job as the mayor. He was ready, at least he thought that he was.

Later that day, Kenny went to his friend Michael’s house just a few blocks down the road.
“So, are you ready for tomorrow?”, Michael curiously asked.
“I think so, I’m not quite sure how to piece it together or how I will do it, but I will hopefully figure it out eventually, but there are three things that Robert told me that I had, which was intelligence, courage, and leadership.” Kenny said hesitantly.
Michael thought, “Intelligence, you could really use it to piece together what you are going to do.”
After Kenny left Michael’s house and went home, he thought about it all night, thinking about tomorrow. He was determined to accomplish his goal. And in an instant, he figured out that love was the only way to cure his community.
CHAPTER 2
He felt very uneasy. The only thing that he could feel was anger and incredulity. Kenny didn’t know how to show love, since he never really had, and every time he would think about it, he would reside.
Michael walked into the room.
“How is it coming?”, Michael asked.
Kenny shouted angrily, “I can’t do it, I just can’t, I do not have what it takes to do my job, nothing is working, nothing will work, if I would have just rejected Robert’s invitation, I never would have gotten into this mess. Michael, please leave, now.”
Michael quickly left the room. Kenny was filled with frustration, he didn’t want this life anymore because it wasn’t worth the try. Kenny realized that he had a community convention that evening. Although he didn’t want to go, he thought that he would give it a try.
It was time for the community convention. Kenny was very nervous because he didn’t know what they think about him. Finally, he gained the courage to walk on stage. As he walked down to the podium, a shiver ran down his spine.
What do I say, Kenny thought to himself.
He stood firmly, as he was about to speak into the microphone.
“Good evening everyone.” he said boldly.
The crowd lay silent with no reply. “As you may or may not know, I will be making an effort to make our community unite and conjoin.”
Someone in the crowd asked, “And how will you do that?”.
Kenny quickly replied,, “You will know when you see it, it will just take a matter of time.”
After the convention, a man came up to Kenny and looked very determined to say something.
“You are just going to be another one of those lazy leaders, you will do nothing that you say.” stated the man,
“You have nothing of what it takes, you will be no good at anything, you are just worthless and a waste of time like past leaders.”
Kenny was filled with sadness, he couldn’t believe what he had just heard.
The following day, before work, Kenny stopped by Michael’s house to apologise for going off the prior day.
“Michael, I just want to apo”
Michael interrupted, “There is no need to apologise, Kenny, I understand that you were frustrated. By the way, come sit down and we will talk.”
Kenny was surprised, “Oh Okay.”
Michael went on to say, “Look Kenny, what that man said about you was not true, because I know you and you are good enough, and you can do it, but you just have to believe in yourself and have confidence.”
Kenny sat in awe, waiting to hear more from Michael.
Michael continued, “It may not seem like you can show love and leadership to others, but you need to do it, and it will work. I will always be there for you.”
Kenny slowly nodded in agreement.
Kenny replied gratefully, “Thank you.”
On his way to work, Kenny was filled with joy and inspiration. He knew that he would change his community, and that nobody, not even himself, would stop him from doing it.
Kenny wouldn’t be in his normal office today, instead he would walk around and greet whoever he passed. He still thought about just residing, or just not doing it at all. For Kenny, it would take courage to do so.
“Have a good day!” Kenny, excitedly said to a man who seemed to be in a hurry.
The man just ignored. But, Kenny didn’t feel bad or get down on himself, for remembered what Michael told him yesterday.
Kenny then saw an elderly woman struggling to get out of the house.
“Here, let me help you.” Kenny had a contagious smile on his face.
The lady smirked at him and replied, “Why are you doing this, I can do it on my own.”
“Well, I’m just trying to do good deeds today.” Kenny stated.
But Kenny didn’t really do it to say that he did good deeds, he did it because he loved his community.
Kenny was pleasured to see Michael later on that day, to tell him about how great he felt and how his day was.
“So, how’d it go?” Michael asked curiously.
“It was great, I feel really good about myself.” Kenny replied
“Great to hear that, see what I told you.” Michael said with excitement.
They both laughed.
