This book is dedicated to my dog, Sallie. Your brave, funny, and know how to tear down a stocking!
Since Christmas has passed a day ago,
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!

Once upon a time, there lived a dragon named Popcorn. She had not a lot of friends, and not a lot of company. Popcorn lived in a far away village called Happy Ville. Everyone there always celebrated.
Except for Popcorn. She lived on a rotten old tree. At this angle, she could see all of Happy Ville and its population!

But the residents of Happy Ville could see Popcorn, too. Everyone was afraid of the dragon. Everyone but Sallie.
Sallie wanted to be a knight. All of the boys and girls teased her, because who had ever heard of a girl night? Sallie just ignored them. ''One day I'll show them all!'' she began. In disbelief, everyone surrounded Sallie. ''Sure you will.'' they teased. Sallie just kept practicing. She knew all the rules! She just didn't know how to convince every body that she would be a successful knight one day.

When Popcorn had awoken from her nap, she decided to have a little fun. So she sneaked into the cornfields. But everybody noticed her.
Everybody ran and ran until they were out of sight! All except Sallie.
''She is at it again everybody!'' they kept bothering.
Once again, Sallie ignored them and prepared for the fight.
The dragon looked strong and mean. But Sallie just had to convince everybody about her knightly skills. Even though it would have been easier to run, Sallie stepped over to the dragon. She began to speak.
''Excu- excuse me, Mrs. Dragon?'' asked Sallie feeling scared. Popcorn roared and looked down at her. With all her courage, Sallie began to speak to the dragon again.
''Your disturbing everyone here in Happy Ville, and ruining the name. I came to ask you to l-leave!'' she said bravely. At least trying too.
Sallie felt the air from the dragons nostrils hovering over her.
Then she spoke her speech again. ''Please leave.'' she said, losing hope. Popcorn shredded a tear. ''Okay. I am sorry that I disrupted ya'll. Maybe I should be on my way.'' the dragon said.
Then after a while, the tears grew larger. Sallie thought maybe he was about to blow, but he was about to sniff. ''Ah! The dragon is about to blow- into his tissue?'' she said alarmingly. Popcorn cried.
That made her laugh for a little while, though. ''One, I am a lady. Two, my name is Popcorn. And I only blow when people hurt me.''
Sallie hugged the dragon. ''It's fine, Popcorn. Why are you crying?''
Popcorn came close up to Sallie's ear. ''Because I am hated and no one likes me. Ya'll made me cry! No one hangs out with me.''
Sallie shrugged. ''Why should anyone like you?'' she asked.
Popcorn thought for a moment. ''Because I'm awesome!'' She replied feeling confident enough to say that phrase.
''No, your destructive! You burned down the castle. Duh!'' Sallie began. ''No I did not, Sallie. It was lightning. Why, I'd never do such a thing. Especially to a family of royalty!'' Popcorn reminded.
Sallie felt bad for mistreating Popcorn. She had to save her reputation! But the question was, how do you do that to a dragon?
''Let's prove that you only mean good!'' Sallie demanded. Popcorn agreed. So they set off to the village. The village of Happy Ville!
