I would like to dedicate this book to Dr. Hayes for pushing my to express my science knowledge and to my entire blocks class for their support!

Have you ever wondered what everyday day items really are, like batteries?
A battery is a device that stores chemical energy and makes it available in an electrical form.

That's really neat! But what is a complete circuit?

A complete circuit is the complete path of an electric current, including the generating apparatus, intervening resistors, or capacitors.
Well Mrs. Frame now that I know what a complete circuit is, can you tell me about conductors of electricity?

Sure Ka'Ryn! A conductor of electricity is a material through which electric current can pass through.

Mrs. Frame those conductors of electricity look like paintbrushes! But now I have another question, what is an electrical charge?

Good question and good observation Ka'Ryn! To answer your question an electrical charge is the physical property of matter that causes it to experience a force when placed in an electromagnetic field.

Now that I know what an electrical charge is Mrs. Frame can you tell me what is an electrical circuit is?

Sure Ka'Ryn! An electric circuit is a path in which electrons from a voltage or current source flow.

So now that we know what an electrical circuit is, what is an electrical current?

An electrical current is a flow of electric charge Ka'Ryn.

Wow electrical currents are fun to learn about! Now Mrs.Frame can you tell me about electrical insulators!

Well Ka'Ryn an electrical insulator is a material whose internal electric charges do not flow freely; very little electric current will flow through it under the influence of an electric field.

Mrs. Frame I think I'm getting the hang of this electricity thing! But I know I have some more things to learn like what is an incomplete circuit?

A incomplete circuit is a circuit in which no current flows.

Mrs. Frame I love learning about electricity can I learn some more? For example what is an insulator?

You can always learn more Ka'Ryn! And an insulator is a material or an object that does not easily allow heat, electricity, light, or sound to pass through it.

Well Mrs. Frame I just have one more question, what is the difference between a series circuit and a parallel circuit?

That is an excellent question Ka'Ryn. In a series circuit, the current through each of the components is the same, and the voltage across the circuit is the sum of the voltages across each component.
