This is dedicated to my two wonderful dogs- Abby and Lucky.

Abby the wiener dog woke up and thought, today will be a great day! She couldn’t wait to play with her sister, and also take a nap. Every day, she woke up and could not wait to play with her bouncy ball.

She got out of bed and went straight to her toy bin. She had many toys, but her bouncy ball with the lady bugs on it was her favorite.

She pushed it out of the bin and started pushing it around with her nose and chasing it. This was her favorite thing to do.

She was running so fast and hard that when she pushed it next, it bounced out of sight. Where did it go? She couldn’t imagine it bouncing that far away.

Her sister, Lucky, looked around and told her “it’s gone, just get another toy!” and Abby refused to accept this. She decided to go looking for it. She never realized how BIG the house was! There are so many places to search and she knew this could take all day.

“So much for playing then taking a nap,” she thought. She started searching. She began in her parents’ room. Under the bed, in the bathroom, behind the dresser, it was nowhere to be seen!

She became discouraged and started to give up, but then she remembered how much she loved that ball and she just had to find it. She looked in every room - the computer room, the kitchen, the dining room - her favorite toy was gone forever.
Then, a thought popped into her head. “Hmm.. Lucky really loves that ball, doesn’t she?” She was often jealous of her when she had it. Could Lucky have taken it?

Abby sneakily walked to Lucky’s bed. She walked around and saw a lump. “What is that?”. She shoved the bed up with her nose. There it was! It was hidden under her bed. She should have known.

As she was standing there, Lucky walked up and asked her what she was doing. Abby told her she searched high and low for her ball and finally found it - In HER bed! Lucky knew she had been caught and there was no hiding it.

Lucky started apologizing for taking it, “I’m so sorry!”. As mad as it made Abby that Lucky hid the ball, Abby also realized that she never really let Lucky play with the ball. She always took it before Lucky had the chance to play with it and this made her feel guilty.

Abby told Lucky that even though it made her mad that she took the ball, she was sorry for never letting her play with it. “Maybe we can start to share the ball, and play together?”. This made Lucky very happy and she asked Abby if she wanted to play together.
