This storybook is focused on 3rd grade Science. The Content Standards I chose to use for this story were GLE 0307.6.1 Identify and compare the major components of the solar system. 90307.6.1 Create a model of the solar system depicting the major components and their relative positions and sizes. SPI 0307.6.1 Identify the major components of the solar system, i.e., sun, planets and moons. The ISTE*S Standard I chose to use along with my story is ITSE*S Standard 3: Knowledge Constructor use teachers exhibit knowledge, skills, and work processes representative of an innovative professional in a global and digital society. a) demonstrate fluency in technology systems and the transfer of current knowledge to new technologies and situations. The project is on the Solar System this could be used in a lesson plan when teaching the 7 planets order and facts on each planet and the sun.

Hi, I am Reed the Alien! I am going to take you on a trip through our Solar System. I will teach you everything you will need to know about the sun and the planets.

AND WERE OFF!
The Solar System is made up of the Sun and the 7 Planets that orbit the Sun. These 8 planets consist of: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.

Our first stop is the Sun. It is the largest object in our Solar System. The sun gives off light in order for us to see during the day. All 8 planets orbit around the sun. I have to stay inside my spaceship because the sun is too hot for me to get out.

Welcome to Mercury!
This is the closest planet to the sun and can get up to 840 degrees Farenheight. WOW that's
hot! It is also the smallest planet, just
slightly bigger than Earth's moon.

The second planet from the sun is Venus. Venus is similar to Earth and sometimes known to be called "twins" because they are similar in size, mass, density, and gravity.
This planet was named for the
Roman goddess of love and beauty.
Welcome to my favorite planet of them all .... Earth! Earth is the 3rd planet from the sun. As you all know Earth is the planet we live on. It is also the only planet to have oceans and human life. Earth is the 5th largest planet in the Solar System.
